One Piece

I tried many times to read this, I mean, how can many people say it's great and I find it to suck so violently? Specially after I'm so fond to typically cliched stories and such?

Plot sucks, art ... no comment is enough to describe how much it sucks, it's dragged on forever with so much stupidity that it's like a thorn, characters are boring, to say the least, and not even nicely cliched.

I can't understand how can anyone read past 30 or 40 chpts.

If you ARE 13/14, this is for you. Nothing deep, nothing amazing, just "good" winning over "evil" all the time. Otherwise, don't bother.

I'll give it a 3 due to the fact that it has to have "something" (albeit I consider it completely stupid) that keeps it still being published, otherwise it would be a 2 (I have the "1" reserved for just ONE manga, and I doubt anything, ever, will be ad bad or worse than it).

P.S: Seriously guys, grow up. This has to be one of the most overrated mangas in the DBase.

It's a shonen. And the author was inspired by Toriyama (Dragon ball) which i personally like cause it has one of my all time favorite character (goku) revived in Luffy. I mean they have so much similarities, endless appetite, innocent but lives to fight, both extreme bakas but still geniuses when it comes to fighting.

Well I think it's funny that some people are criticizing the fact that it is still going on and becoming incoherent? imo the story is still easy to follow and I'm glad that it's only halfway since the end of Enes Lobby arc. The artstyle is unique and I'm glad that Oda still makes most fights fresh. He always has a new move and Luffy recently just got his powerup and only used it once so far. We all look forward to more gear 2 action and especially gear 3 action. perfect example is the nightmare Luffy.

I really can't believe that some people dare to claim that it's incoherent cause its so easy to follow and it's finally getting more interesting bye Luffy beeing near the new world. At the moment it's the By far the best shonen you'll find of its length or I can even maybe go as far as calling it the best ever. While personally Kenshin is my favorite, One Piece outsales any series ever.

after 30-40volumes the plot is very loose .just travelling island to island.considering it is a shonen, action isnt unique.compare to slam dunk. Takehiko inoue didnt extend series.thats the difference. it must be end where it should be.th fact that so many still likes it doesn't make it the greatest Shonen ever. Out of the big three this isnt weekest. bleach getting worse and worse. one piece plot and characters are very good when compare to the naruto and bleach.thats why this is a good manga. but narutos fighting sceness very unique. i cant deny it.

One Piece is my most beloved story. I can see that the author is having fun while doing it, I can see that he can express everything so fluently and everything that shows up ends up there for a good reason. It's really intelligent and intense, it draws you in without your notice, and when you actually see it, you are already really obsessed with reading the next chapter. You jump into a new world full of wonderful plots, with good charismatic characters, which make you think that you want to be a pirate like that right away. To add one more think, I'm proud of the fact that ODA Eiichiro-san extended the series, 'cause it seems more real this way. I mean, with a plot like that you can explore too many things and with the author's imagination they can be great. Besides, to be the pirate king is not that easy of a thing for you to expect it to be complete in 5 years. I also think that the battle scenes are unique and very strong, when I read them I can surely feel it. I wish I had that much of a creative mind, someday I will! Oda-san, keep the good work!!!

I love that manga, i wish the relieship was more deeper... even so i cant stop read it......

but didnt finished coz its success
and it's very predictable as well.
the story really needs help. It has become too boring to the point i stopped reading it.

A very nice artwork very different than anything else out there,the strory its amazing you never get bored.An epic adventure of some young people chasing their dreams!!!!!

This is really good, i mean really really good. A very refreshing drawing style, incredibly unique and likeable characters, top-notch humour that surpasses everything out there, gripping plot and drama, and intense fights. It has everything in tons. Its currently the most popular manga in Japan, with good reason. Just bear with the rather slow start. It'll pick up steam and keeps getting better.
And yes, im a fanboy and im proud of it.

Overall a good manga, even if the blood violence is a little low. The plot is good, even if it has some weak points, and the characters are overall enjoyable. I give it a 6, thanks to these points.

the bad thing about this manga is 1 arc take up like 50-70 chapter lol but the fights is awsome and quiet unexpected even though u know the main character will win lol

overall it good art,good story line for each arc, alsome fight scene,and anything can happen in this manga lol pirate,zombie,monster,giant,flying monster,chibi,invinsible stuff ...ect lol XD every character have a uniqe power and how they use it 2 fight is interesting and cool =3 lol

One Piece is a very enjoyable manga with nice art (well, I like the newer art more than the old ones) and character design. Also the themes in the manga is very good: true friendship, true justice (later in the manga) and about pursueing your own dream. The characters in the manga/anime also do development a bit which is nice. Then the machines/electronics in the manga/anime are awesome and funny; they remind me alittle of those in the Flintstones: part machine, part animal (or snails etc. etc.). As for the journeys, they are fantastic. The manga is not only about joy and happiness, but there are also sad moments, e.g. the background story of the individual crew member. The anime makes these sad moments even more sad thanks to animation/video and audio.

Overall, One Piece is a very good manga with a nice story, nice art and character design. Highly recommended for People who like journeys/adventures and pirates!

I've read Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach... in that order. All three I started out watching the anime then switching to the manga just because I enjoyed it a lot and wanted to know what was to happen next. I have to admit, I have stopped reading Naruto and Bleach... though I do want to sit down and catch up what I've missed on Bleach one of these days. I suppose I could go on an compare the three but this is a review about One Piece.

The main reason why One Piece stands above the other two is simply because it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's about adventure. It's nothing about a protagonist fighting some inner turmoil nor is it about all the supporting characters wallowing in self-pity and despair. I enjoy because it's FUN to read and it's that simple.
