Personally those who put down this series are either biased, ill informed, retarded etc.
I've read alot of stuff and this tops em all.Its not a series to be taken seriously by far.Its just a fun ride of action and drama, laced with humor.
On friendship, its just a universal virtue that bonds people together.Getting tired of it?Get some friends doucebag instead of staring at that computer screen.
On the art,I like it.Its original, wacky and refreshing. Those who diss it are obviously not truly appreciative of art.Who says everybody has to have spiky gold hair?Who says super huge eyes are needed? What bullshit I say.
Even in Japan, people read and buy this stuff.Way more than any other shounen jump series.Way more than any other series and its still ongoing. How can any sane person deny that this isn't good just from seeing the numbers? You could say its because some stupid money grubbing capitalists ruined the anime by sensoring everything and replacing the voices with cheap shit and giving it a bad name.
Of course you can't do much to change doucebags but at least think twice before rating a series based on stupid ill conceived stereotypical criteria.Rate a shounen as a shounen, rate a shoujo as a shoujo. If you don't know better when don't do anything.
I guess I was wrong.. lol
Btw... Hancock should approx. be 26+ yrs. old.. She was captured at age 12... escaped 4 yrs. later making her about 16 yrs. old... then became the empress of Kuja pirates for 11 years now since then...
Dunno how old Luffy is tho.. I just know he's younger than her.. lol

i like this manga. I just don't like to wait for manga to come and read it a week and a week with only 15 pages per time. So yeah.... i'll come back and re-read the whole thing when it's finished - even if it'll take me years from now on lol.
Well, I've been reading One piece for quite awhile and I have to say it is not the type of manga you can read week after week. It doesn't have anything profound and it's a light read. But as probably said before, it was intend to be. Anyways, I find it more enjoyable to read it in arcs at a time rather than bit by bit.
out of what is pretty much the top three shonen manga of right now, according to me (one piece, bleach, naruto), this one is by far the best. yes, it's really light and fun, but it does have a few serious moments too. feels really similar to fairly tail, and it's the only one out of those three i mentioned earlier (especially naruto, who the hell thinks it's funny?) to make me laugh.
It's lighthearted, and I guess that we need that sometimes. It's not deep, and it wasn't meant to be. The author was targeting kids. After 20 volumes of it though, I decided that the manga wasn't for me, plus I kept taking breaks from it and losing track of the plot. But quite well-done and very entertaining. The only real reason I stopped was because it's a little too long for my patience.
This manga sure is simple as some ppl said it here but i just love it like this. The manga is funny and give me a feeling of freedom which i havent seen in any other manga i've read. I dont think every manga need to be extremely deep and moving with complicated characters, sometimes we need manga to have fun and relax u know. I find this manga great entertaining and I love luffy's crew! Only problem, it's kinda long now and still on going...
I love it very much
although i had read and watch it for many yrs.
I had stopped for a while in Water Seven coz i start to confused w/ the story
but I continued it
and I enjoyed it very much.
Fantastic manga,
now the chapter already after 500
great!!
It is the best manga I've read and 500 hundred chapters of greatness, so far. I don't really see the repetition, each arc is unique in its own way. If ur saying the fighting is repetitive, then all the other mangas like naruto and bleach and etc... are all repetitive too, I read those and hated them. but I can't get enough of this. Yes it is kind of childish sometimes. But hey, why are you in such a hurry to grow up? There is lots of action, fighting, laughter, etc. I just love it
A lot of people like the insanity, the nonsense. The certain kindergarden theme that this have. Like watching teletubbies or care bear or something. However, I am not they type that like this kind of manga. Thus I don't find it very supportive of its high rating. And hey, everyone's opinion counts. I hate to rate manga low ratings. But I truly feel that this manga should get the grade I am assigning it to.
don't let other comments about it going nowhere and being the same thing over and over again fool you, this is one evolving series.
Yes there are times when it feels repetitive, but if you look at the entire series on a whole, the story IS progressing. The goal is not unreachable, it is just very very very far away. Up to now they're about at teh halfway benchmark and honestly, if they were any more then halfway to their goal then it wouldn't be the deeply-detailed-with-subtle-growth manga that sets it apart from other series.
Yes, if you read it release by release it may seem to drag on, but if you compare the current point of the story to when it first began, you will most definitely see a tremendous development in character. They don't start off insanely indestructably strong (though they are fairly strong), they slowly developed to the point where when you see something new, you can appreciate it without the exasperated sighs if you look at the time it took for the characters to become what they are now.
A really good, ever-evolving series.
From the beginning, One Piece grips you with fast-paced action, tons of fighting, and a good supply of baddies. The problem is, that's all it has. The main characters are in search of a goal, which can be forever unreachable or easily reachable - depending on what the mangaka feels like. Meanwhile, they run into bad guys harrassing good people, so they beat them up. Then, they celebrate with the people they've just rescued. Maybe one of those people will join them if the mangaka felt like it. Then, they go to the next place where even stronger enemies await. But, of course, they end up beating those enemies, then celebrate... and so on and so forth. It's an endless loop of "plot", if you can call it that. Add to this the fact that none of the enemies ever DIE. In fact, NO ONE ever dies. So, there is an endless plot plus endless addition of characters. I view this as a sign that the mangaka is satisfied with his current life style of "make-a-new-baddy-every-week-and-live-off-of-it-for-as-long-as-I-can." It's on par with Inu Yasha in that sense.
Yes, it's still very entertaining compared to most other mangas. Yes, it still has a good potential. For me though, it's starting to get pretty boring and I hope the plot starts developing soon. But, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm 90 and this manga is still on-going.
