Bleach Chapter 478 Discussion

Felt like a nice christmassy chapter :P.

It was a perfect closure, it was exactly what Bleach needed to lay the Fullbringers behind and move on. To introduce new challenges, characters and secrets that need revealing.

No more timeskip, dissapearing for 3 years means they're gone from the story. We still haven't fully seen Orihime's, Chad's, Ishida's and Soul Society's power-ups among other things.

Surprised about the lack of flashback... but then I realized, it wasn't Ginjo's flashback, it was Tsukishima's, as long as he's alive, we'll still be able to see the rest of it one day.

Wel this was....

on one hand it was bittersweet and nice chapter.

On other hand...I refuse to believe Ginjou has died. They never showed what happened.  His flashback is incomplete. And there's a HUGE part of the whole story missing(urahara, arriving at the scene, etc). Whatever is going on I am pretty sure Ginjou is alive.

Also, anyone else feel another timeskip coming? Yukio talked about wanting to get three years to rebuild his company. That certainly seemed like some sort of set up for time-skip, most likely few chapters latter.

3/5

Fai, it could set up a future timeskip, but would Kubo do one again so soon? We haven't even gotten used to this timeskip. Also I would be very sad if Ginjo is actually dead, and the other Fullbringers like Tsukishima just walk out of the story. Would Ichigo actually kill Ginjo? Because thats what this all means.

So what happened to the supposed Isshin backstory? I thought Ginjo's purpose was to act as someone from Isshin's past.

So Ginjo "died" and Ichigo killed someone? Boring. Good to see Riruka joining Ichigo's friends though.

3/5, Ginjo dying was unexpected, but I guess it good that way. I don't think SS would let loose ends like that roam around.

Though we haven't seen the whole Urahara part, maybe he was taken in custody by SS to be just like aizen.

At least now the arc is over and we can expect to see the new enemies in the next few chapters

- Grimjow was planned to die but due to fan-popularity he will share a comeback with Halibel.

Now that's pretty lame. But hey, why not.

Also if you do not like "countless pointless fights" then please switch to different genre. Its shounen manga. Of course it will  have fights against enemies as main focus point and not hugging characters with peace offerings.

I didn't complain about the fighting but about it being utterly pointless. Let's face it, 90% of the shit that happened in the Karakura arc had nothing to do with either character or plot development and was ultimately just filler to drag it all out. This is the main reason why I think Bleach's quality dropped significantly at that time (actually already starting with Hueco Mundo arc, although it was bearable then).

Kubo got so engrossed with those fights that he (or at least the reader) completely lost sight of the plot. Those were like, a hundred chapters, with VERY little plot progression. And that little happened only in the last couple of chapters. I enjoy a good fight in a shounen as much as anyone, but if every single enemy turns out to be little more than cannonfodder without any background or impact on the story whatsoever, I can't accept that as good writing.

You often hear people complaining about Belach having no plot. I did that more than once myself. But it's not true, there is a plot. It's actually not even all that bad. It's just that you can barely recognize it with all the pointless (emphasize on that) fights dragging everything out way too long. The horrible, horrible pacing is what brings this manga down. Hard.

But I digress, this has nothing to do with the chapter discussion anymore.

Just droppingin to say that the pace issues has been known since a long time and is justified imo.

The main problem is that we are reading one chapter per week. Kubo is more suited to write manga in volume form rather than in chapter form and because of the 1 week wait, the effect is emphasied.

If we had all the chapter out i'm pretty much sure that this pacing issues wouldn't bother 99% of the people actually bothered by it.

And so Tsukishima is gay ;) him mourning Ginjo was hilarious

yes, person mourning for someone's who was like father to him, taught him everything and was reason to live for, death obviously makes him "gay"...

lol umm....we need a reset of the previous arc.

i didn't even bother reading this chapter. i could easily tell what it was all about just by looking at the panels and i was not impressed at all.

So the Fullbringers are going to become Ichigo's allies or enemies in the future? Dunno. Like some ppl said, I also smell a timeskip coming soon.

And Riruka... well, we all knew she was going to join Ichigo's nakamas sooner or later.
