Another horrible arc done.

Please just let it end in the next 2.

Just droppingin to say that the pace issues has been known since a long time and is justified imo.

The main problem is that we are reading one chapter per week. Kubo is more suited to write manga in volume form rather than in chapter form and because of the 1 week wait, the effect is emphasied.

If we had all the chapter out i'm pretty much sure that this pacing issues wouldn't bother 99% of the people actually bothered by it.

This would imply that every weekly manga has to suffer from slow as hell pacing, just because it's weekly.

Of course if all chapters were out (or if you picked the manga up just now) it wouldn't seem quite as bad, since you could read it in one go . But that still wouldn't change the fact that from Aizen's reveal until his defeat we had roughly 240 chapter with very little plot progression. And that's still horrible pacing and people reading it should definitely be bothered by it.

I am just gonna copy paste another post I made in a thread questioning the true value of this arc and the fullbringers themselves.

"He is talking about how we all thought Xcution was gonna be the new Espada, only more moral/political and less fightfightfight, and they turned out to have the worst arc of Bleach and end it in the most anticlimatic way ever.

After reading the arc, I am wondering if there was ever any need for it to happen at all. the only relevant things were the suspicion cast on SS (quickly laid to ground by Ichigo's stalwart belief of his nakama) and Ichigo's powers. This could have been achieved with the appearence of a Menos Grand and a few chapters of ishida speculating and gathering everyone to brainstorm and discuss about his theories.

Would have brought less plotholes and less confusion about how Fullbring actually works, and whether or not orihime's and Chad's powers are true fullbrings, or what."

This portrays my opinion the best way I can, I believe.

^and this post made absolutely no sense at all. All that could  be undertood is that this person feels this was the "worst" arcof this manga.

You undestand what you want to understand, I should know that by now. BUT, if you want me to explain,  shall:

Seriously, without reading things that aren't there (looking at you, Fai) or factoring outside explanations at conventions or w/e, what real use did the Xcution have?

They brought a new power, supposedly one which makes the "Hollow/Shinigami" power parallel a "Hollow/Shinigami/Fber" Triangle. This is all well and good, until you realise that everyone who was supposed to have this power is either dead or no longer uses it (barring Chad and Orihime, which I will comment on later)

Xcution's moral standing is also complete bull. Hell, that is a plot point! Every single character had their own motives. The PSP kid proved it when he turned to Dirty Boots gal and said "You were the only one with that belief anyway." What belief? The belief that FB was a curse. The initial reason why ichigo was introduced to Xcution (remember? He was supposed to absorb their powers?) Riruka, and her fucked up belief not only dont make any sense, but arent shared by anyone else. Ginjo is doing this because he straight up hates SS foe giving him a GPS, and Tsukishima is doing this because it turns out he is Ginjo's bitch.

So, the moral/ethycal fights we were waiting to see just didnt happen. Only a blind fool would claim they did.

What else happened of relevance this arc? Ichigo got his powers.

Did we need another enemy organization just for that? Couldn't Ichigo see the appearence of a Menos Grande, be incapable to stop it, go through an emo period where he'd admit the true reason he wants his powers is not to protect his friends but because he straight up LIKES his power, and go to Urahara/SS/his friends and get his powers that way?

^I'd actually prefer that. It would show Ichigo developped. It would make me like Ichigo and relate to him much more. As it is, Ichigo is still a Gary Stu who wants power to protect his friends, despite his rather short admittance of selfishness.

The other plot point is the possibility of SS being up to something. This one I'll explain in a rather short text: Ishida was already onto them, and everything Ginjo "revealed" Ishida already knew.

Now, a little question to you guys: Are orihime's and Chad's powers REAL Fullbrings? Their powers were first justified as being the result of Ichigo's influence, and then retconned to being the Hougyokou's powers. Now it just so happens that they are fullbrings, despite the fact that Chad said his powers are close to that of a Hollow's. They also don't fit the theme: Orihime's attacks are Japanese (relating to Shinigami), Chad's attacks are in Spanish (relating to the hollow) and the other FBers use english in their attacks.

That is nothing, you say?

Wasn't it established that the name of a technique or transformations goes a LONG way in establishing its power? I hardly doubt Orihime or Chad are calling out their powers in the wrong language without any drawbacks.

I thought there was going to be a flashback, but no... lot's of things we don't know...

About to crucify myself, but...

I personally enjoyed this arc; sure, there were definite bumps along the way, but it proved that Kubo still remembers how to do a manga without just making it a lot of pointlessly dragged-out fights.

What faith I have left in this manga-ka sustains me. The fact that he didn't just hand-wave the disappearance of the FBs (like Kensei, and especially GRIMMJOW AND NEL) gives me hope that everything is eventually going to tie together in some insane way.

I see something epic in the making here. 5/5

Oh and P.S. That page where it was just Shishigawara carrying Tsukishima off into the white? For the first time I agree with Kubo using the blank background. You could call it lazy, yeah. But this time I think I understood the approach.

In the end this accomplished nothing. No backstory, no anything. Except that Jackie lived, big whooped. aNyone actually thought Renji was capable of killing her in the first place? We're back where we started on not knowing if Tsukishima dies or not. Knowing Kubo's pace and the way he loves his characters, g uess we won't be seeing the fullbringers again.

Wel this was....

on one hand it was bittersweet and nice chapter.

On other hand...I refuse to believe Ginjou has died. They never showed what happened.  His flashback is incomplete. And there's a HUGE part of the whole story missing(urahara, arriving at the scene, etc). Whatever is going on I am pretty sure Ginjou is alive.

Also, anyone else feel another timeskip coming? Yukio talked about wanting to get three years to rebuild his company. That certainly seemed like some sort of set up for time-skip, most likely few chapters latter. It seems Kubo is setting up Fullbringers for some sort of bigger purpose now, with Yukio wanting to gather them to work for him, so could they possibly be used latter on as allies to Ichigo once inevitable versus Spirit King fight breaks out?

It still feels like there's a lot that we will get explained soon about what is going on and just like during this arc, it seems Kubo purposely omitted parts to be shown latter on.

3/5

EDIT: Anyway, can't wait for Riruka/Ichigo antics. Would not be disappointed if she was the "Chi Chi" of this manga.

It's like kubo didn't get any work done during the holidays so he skipped all the flashbacks and character development we thought we were getting this week and just decided to rap up the arc.

-still don't know what the FB were hoping to accomplish with the power they got from ichi

-Ginjou dies a very anticlimactic death and leaves billions of questions about his character unanswered

-Jackie's alive but her boots got ruined, so its like what was the point of bringing her back.(although she could possibly get her fullbring form back by getting them repaired or getting new boots to use as her fullbring focus.)

-Fullbring power itself is still very vague especially when fused with soul reaper powers

-no type of setup for the next arc...

- Grimjow was planned to die but due to fan-popularity he will share a comeback with Halibel.

Now that's pretty lame. But hey, why not.

Also if you do not like "countless pointless fights" then please switch to different genre. Its shounen manga. Of course it will  have fights against enemies as main focus point and not hugging characters with peace offerings.

I didn't complain about the fighting but about it being utterly pointless. Let's face it, 90% of the shit that happened in the Karakura arc had nothing to do with either character or plot development and was ultimately just filler to drag it all out. This is the main reason why I think Bleach's quality dropped significantly at that time (actually already starting with Hueco Mundo arc, although it was bearable then).

Kubo got so engrossed with those fights that he (or at least the reader) completely lost sight of the plot. Those were like, a hundred chapters, with VERY little plot progression. And that little happened only in the last couple of chapters. I enjoy a good fight in a shounen as much as anyone, but if every single enemy turns out to be little more than cannonfodder without any background or impact on the story whatsoever, I can't accept that as good writing.

You often hear people complaining about Belach having no plot. I did that more than once myself. But it's not true, there is a plot. It's actually not even all that bad. It's just that you can barely recognize it with all the pointless (emphasize on that) fights dragging everything out way too long. The horrible, horrible pacing is what brings this manga down. Hard.

But I digress, this has nothing to do with the chapter discussion anymore.
