All right chapter, I guess 4/5 for Fairy Tail standards

But what I'm afraid for is the BS which is going to happen in the next few chapters.

Brandish, being the shit she is, is obviously going to betray Zeref. She's taking Natsu, Lucy and Happy way so that they won't get one shotted by Invel again (after he gets serious)

Wow, ANOTHER fake death flag. Honestly if ANYONE falls for this shit again, I swear they've got to be having an IQ < 50. Juvia will

I just hope Grey kills Juvia and becomes the goat of FT

IIRC there was some foreshadowing of it in Avatar but it could be new.

Well anyways, at least DeS power-up receives a consequence.

The concept of "forbidden magic" being consequential was introduced during the Tenru Island Arc. Azuma died to his own magic and (forgot his name) Capricorn, or  human takeover guy, died due to the consequences of taking over a spirit.

All the "7 kins of purgatory" were explained to utilize magic close to the source which was claimed to be darkness, aka the source that empowers Zeref.

As for Gray specifically there was alot of foreshadowing. It started with him gaining his tattoos when he tanked Mard Geer´s wtf attack, later during the Avatar Arc it was implied that his "disease" was eating at him, which he tried to battle through training, which didn´t work.

Wether or not Hiro implied that he left Juvia to protect her from himself is debateable, but during the arc there were panels dedicated to him noticing hat his tatoos grew larger and him getting worried over it.

During the war arc he had also another discussion with Laxus, where Gray mentioned Laxus cancer and Laxus Gray´s worsening condition. It wasn´t ever specified what exactly was happening, but worried looks at his arm and growing black demonic tattos could be cosidered foreshadowing.

I think Polyusica (the old lady, Makarov's friend) took care of the demonizing of Grey if I remember correctly. This happened somewhere in the 1 yer timeskip, was stated

What a cruel magic, they have to fight eachother.

There's no way Gray would hurt Juvia and Juvia would rather kill herself. Before any of that happens, it's most likely that someone will interfere or Gray will find a solution to the problem. Either way, I think one of them will be injured in the next chapter.

Hm...I feel like there's some sort of hidden message here.  Not entirely sure, though.

It does prove that Mashime is SUPER DESPERATE if he keeps bringing back old things he himself fucked up(Look! Tartaros Curse powers! Look Gray's demon shadow stuff thing I ruined! Look Serena totally not dead!). Alas nothing is working. At this point Mashima is literally throwing Shit at the wall hoping some of it sticks.

Let's not forget how Neinhart's entire schtick was "Let's bring back recognizable villains because I can't be bothered to make my current villains interesting."

Otherwise lold hard at random giant Brandish. Mashima at this point is going to cover all possible fetishes with her

2/5

I thought he was just getting ready for his next crossover omake "Attack on Brandish."

So Mashima adds a new element to Dragon Slayers out of nowhere. Wonder if it was planned or inspired by a recent video game he just played (which would explain the late release).

And here comes Plot Device Brandish randomly coming in to set up obvious Gray X Juvia moment.

A new element to dragon slayers? What are you talking about o_O

If she could think clearly and had full control of her body (you know, the exact things Ice Lock prevents), probably.  Though I'd question the logic of turning into water in the middle of a blizzard.
