What a tragic love story. My goodness. >.<

But I am so glad Zeref and Mavis is an official ship! I knew it.

Can't help but think that in the final battle, Mavis and Zeref will probably be able to meet again in the afterlife.

So Zeref love Mavis more than the other way around, and that's why the curse killed her..? How I understand it is that since Zeref is the originator of that curse and Mavis was cursed due to the use of magic Zeref taught her. So it is only natural for Zeref to be the one to take Mavis' life; even if their love weighed the same, Zeref killed her because his curse is the original, thus more potent/powerful.

I could be wrong, that's just my interpretation.

I think Mavis's soul simply left her body as she can't really die.. even if she died, probably Zeref tried to resurrect her like Natsu XD..

Anyway I can't guess why Zereft wants Mavis's body?? I believe it is connected to what happened in year 777 along with Laila's involvement in the story..

maybe zeref just wants mavis's naked loli body because he love her :P

Or or, because her body is technically cursed? He might be planning to do something similar to what he did to Natsu...

Inb4 called that shit.

EOS Zeref replaced as villain because all he requires to get purified is love.

Quite surprising though that Mavis actually "died".

Well moving on, yeah Layla has something to do with Fairy Heart. To obvious. Also Lucy Definitely be the one to actually killed Zeref and probably end Natsu as well. Because it's to suspicious. That her mother died on the same day as the dragon disappearance. I feel that Layla saved Natsu because she time traveled and brought him to the present but lost her life. Because I have no clue how Natsu would be 400 years old and not remember anything right? He grew up in the guild and age like a normal boy. but didn't grow up when he was still with Zeref. So the only option is that layla was the one who brought Natsu from the past. Since in the celestial world, time is different she must have that power. Or she just kept Natsu in the celestial world for who knows how long and took care of him . idk this is a guess

Regarding the time travel: I don't think so.

When we were intoduced to Zeref's backstory he stated that he preserved Natsu's body. Furthermore he said that he already created other demons before. Therefore it is rather likely that Zeref found a way to stop a body from decaying or aging, leaving the body of his brother in some kind of stasis in order to 'perfect' him. When he was finished, he lifted that stasis and Natsu started growing like a normal child (including erased memories). Igneel found him and raised him, since he knew that Natsu was END, trying to be a good influence on him (although I still don't get how it is possible for Igneel to fight END when END was a little Natsu, ending up raising him...)

Regarding the chapter:

Well... since the curse is all about contradictions this was rather logically for me. If you love something you end up hating it, like Zeref sayed when refering to his little brother (loving him and hating him at the same time).

If you start to love someone with all your heart, you not just hate that person. You want that person to die.

But Mavis was immortal. So in order for her to die the curse needed to be lifted. And that's exactly what I think happend. By loving Mavis, Zeref lifted the curse, making her mortal again. And since she didn't eat anything for half a year... she died in this very same instant.

Damn it, Mashima. You make me like Zeref. D:
