The portrayal of the villains is a refreshing change, as they are not one-dimensional; they possess intelligence and make明智的选择, avoiding unnecessary conflicts with the female lead, unlike in many other stories where it feels forced.
Regarding the ghost elements, while they might not be terrifying to readers, they are indeed terrifying for the female lead (FL) due to her unique perspective. She perceives a ghost-infested environment that others overlook, creating a sense of fear specifically for her character.
Given the slow-paced romance, the narrative focuses on the FL and male lead's (ML) thoughts and decision-making processes, gradually building their connection as the story unfolds. This approach allows the love story to develop naturally and meaningfully.
Warning: Spoiler ahead.
Additionally, it falls into the category of novels (in my opinion) that overuse the "pregnancy" label, but the pregnancy aspect doesn't significantly affect the plot. In fact, it only happens in chapter 142 out of the entire 145 chapters.
My recommendation is to read up until Chapter 120 or even earlier, as the story might lose its novelty and predictability beyond that point. Once you reach the reveal of the relationship, feel free to skip the last two chapters, as, in my opinion, they serve mostly as padding.
I wasted half a day on those 50 chapters, and in the end, I don't believe it was a worthwhile investment. I genuinely appreciate the translator's efforts, though, and it's not their fault for the story's shortcomings.
Edit: Apologies, I accidentally gave a 5-star rating on my mobile device. Honestly, I'm not in the right mindset to rate it, as I'm still conflicted about my feelings.
