The initial volume was decent, but the quality dwindled afterwards, unless you specifically enjoy the harem, comedy, and overpowered protagonist themes, which the novel executes fairly well. My motivation to continue was initially fueled by hopes that it would regain some of its charm from the first volume, and because I found certain situations amusing or intriguing, particularly the MC's nonchalant approach to showcasing his powers. However, I eventually had to drop it due to an event that signaled a lack of effort to justify the plot.

That incident involved the MC casually thinking about dodging attacks with his literal light-based Railgun, which felt too unrealistic and stretched my suspension of disbelief. Initially, I laughed, but then realized it was time to move on. If you're looking for a lighthearted story that doesn't require much logic, can overlook male characters' illogical abuse (like when a character's genitals are crushed for attempting to flirt with the heroines, which is portrayed almost as a badge of honor), and just want to follow an OP character's "adventures" (which lose their sense of danger or excitement once the OPness sets in), this might be a suitable choice for you.

As for the romance aspects, they can be enjoyable if you choose to overlook the circumstances leading up to them.

This can be interpreted as a critique of those who desired a genuinely compelling dark isekai (a subgenre where the main character is transported to a parallel world) but asked for too much in their expectations. The protagonist comes across as shallow, and the supporting characters, excluding the lolita vampire, lack depth, making the reading experience less enjoyable halfway through.

I must admit, I'm rather astonished that I managed to reach Chapter 93 before losing interest in this series. Of course, I did skim through parts, but reading comprehension becomes significantly harder without the language barrier. To be fair, I only read about 40 chapters in Japanese. Nevertheless, looking back, the story was decent up until he met Yue. It was intense survival, a gripping tale. However, the author turned him into a chuunibito nightmare, even acknowledging it, which felt frustrating at the time. I was hooked on the series, but now...

The quality started declining after they left the first dungeon. It went from great to good, then good to merely acceptable, and eventually to "why bother reading this anymore?" Despite my curiosity about what happened after their reunion, I continued.

The turning point came when they met again at school. The rabbit girl's clinginess was overwhelming. She wasn't particularly bright and persistent, and I always suspected she misinterpreted her feelings as love. But the girl from his class... I struggle to comprehend why she'd invest so much in a man who is in love with someone else.

The underwater arc was the final straw. I stopped reading the raws in 2014 and later breezed through the translations. It became clear that it wasn't just my reading comprehension; the story was genuinely boring, filled with overpowered elements.

The only positive aspect I can think of is that the series leans more towards being early on in its OP trend. Back then, such power-ups weren't as prevalent or monotonous.

I genuinely appreciate the story on its own. Critics have been pointing out that it might be overly wish-fulfilling, but that doesn't bother me. Sure, it employs common tropes found in many light novels – so what?

The sole reason I'm giving it a one-star rating is the abysmal translation quality. The current translator has been working on this for years, yet the English remains a jumbled mess of broken phrases. It's much better to stick with the official light novel releases for a more coherent reading experience.

The assessment began with a high score of 9/10, but over time, it gradually declined to 5/10. The repetitive nature and lack of genuine adventure became apparent, as the main character (MC) seemed to breeze through dungeons without any challenge. The addition of the "hero" party, whose pace slowed things down to match the supporting characters, further contributed to the issue. The hero struggled and felt envious, while the MC remained indifferent, effortlessly accomplishing incredible feats. As a result, the story progressed sluggishly, lacking engaging content to compensate for the slow progression.

Characters were either two-dimensional when directly tied to the plot, or one-dimensional otherwise, making them feel shallow and underdeveloped.

To be honest, the first five chapters were quite challenging to read; I actually stopped multiple times before I managed to finish them. What I appreciated about the harem aspect is that it doesn't make me uncomfortable with the other girls who care for the protagonist, because he chooses one and remains loyal to her, while the others just seek his company.

The story itself was exceptional, and I enjoyed every bit of it. However, there were moments when the author dragged certain parts, which could be slightly boring. If you can overlook that, the experience is truly fantastic.

There's not much else to say, really. I'd recommend giving it a try; if possible, skip the initial five chapters. Just keep in mind that the main character starts off weak and gets mistreated, and you'll find the rest of the story enjoyable. Happy reading! 😊

In my personal opinion, the pinnacle of isekai literature is one where the protagonist's power doesn't stem from sheer luck or divine intervention. What I admired was the MC's genuine struggle and thoughtful approach to becoming overpowered, rather than it being handed to them on a silver platter. Frankly, if you dislike harem themes, it's best to avoid stories tagged with that genre and refrain from penalizing them with low ratings, as it can ruin the experience for those who enjoy it.

I'm not sure of the exact chapter number, but I stopped reading when the main character left the lava dungeon and a girl fell from the sky. Initially, the story had potential, but unfortunately, it devolved into a clichéd teenager drama. As one of the earliest novels I tried, I tried my best to push through, but the excessive focus on creepy romantic scenes became unbearable. Ultimately, I decided to stop. If you enjoy romance, ecchi, and teenage drama, you might want to give it a shot. However, if you're looking for something more substantial, it's probably best to avoid it to prevent disappointment later on.
