HOWEVER. What on earth is the deal with the hiatus?
Anyway, everything in the story progresses in a rather... unique yet solid manner; that's why I liked it.
This manga was a delightful read with a well-crafted plot and characters. Despite the apparent chemistry between the protagonist and his rival (which is amusing, especially considering they're both male, though nothing comes of it), the story remained engaging. The situations Daisuke finds himself in are complex and intriguing to follow as he navigates through them. The action sequences were also fantastic, featuring various realms and magical elements that added depth to the story. It was an enjoyable experience until the ending, which abruptly cut off during a crucial battle. This left me feeling disappointed.
Moreover, upon discovering there was an anime adaptation, I was dismayed to find out it deviated significantly from the manga, almost as if it were a different story altogether. They introduced new characters, rearranged events, and similarly ended things mid-story. Perhaps they ran out of budget, but one can hope for a resolution someday. My friends' reaction to the anime was "what the heck," and I couldn't agree more.
If you're interested in reading the manga despite its unfinished state, go ahead. Maybe it's because the English translation isn't complete yet, and perhaps in Japan, they have the full story? Here's hoping. I truly enjoyed the manga, apart from its unfortunate conclusion.
I adore this story, and in my opinion, the manga surpasses the anime... though they are quite alike. There won't be any new chapters coming out anytime soon since the author has placed it on hiatus (don't worry, I had to look up what that meant too—it signifies it's taking a break for a while). This news saddened me as well...
However, where I follow it, on http://www.onemanga.com, it goes up to 54 chapters, an Argentine special, three short stories, and one side story.
I hope this helps D.N.Angel fans!
I enjoyed the Manga for D.N.Angel much more than the anime.
I discovered the anime first and watched the first episode, which led me to seek out the manga. My preference mainly stemmed from the twin sisters, Riku and Risa. Initially, I couldn't pinpoint why, but I favored Riku over her sister. This curiosity drove me to find the manga and skim through it to see if D.N.Angel would be worth my time. I was eager to learn more about Riku, and soon enough, I found myself deeply engrossed in reading most of the manga before finishing the anime.
The anime, however, differed significantly from the manga, and I found the manga to be funnier. In both versions, it was evident that Daisuke had a crush on Risa at the beginning. Yet, the humor was amplified in the manga because Dark, who mostly resides within Daisuke, developed a crush on Riku. I was quite frustrated that the anime completely omitted any development of romantic feelings between Dark and Riku. This omission dampened my enthusiasm for the anime considerably. The only reason I continued watching until the end was my fascination with Dark's character, whom I found quite attractive.
I'm telling you, D.N. Angel is so addictive that once you start reading the manga, you can't stop. I've been reading it today on animea.net, and my parents already think I'm crazy because I keep laughing out loud. The manga is 99.9% better than the anime, but the anime has more vibrant colors and you might also get hooked on the voice actors. I always wondered why the characters are ultra-cute in the manga, but somehow less fascinating in the anime version. Read the manga, and you'll see what I mean.
Kyaaa~ Hiwatari-kun forever...!
I truly loved this manga; it boasts a wonderful story and stands out as an excellent shojo manga. However, I couldn't complete reading it because, out of the 15 volumes released in Japan, only 13 were translated into English before Tokyopop made the decision to halt the translation process.
I have to admit, when I first read the initial two volumes of D.N.Angel, I didn't grasp the story very well. However, the drawing style and all the characters introduced so far were amazing. I paused reading D.N.Angel back then but later began watching the anime, which is also very good, and tried to read the manga again. Eventually, I succeeded, and here's my first review~
The character design is excellent; Yukiru Sugisaki has done a fantastic job creating awesome outfits for Daisuke and his friends. Moreover, the backgrounds are drawn beautifully, showcasing significant improvement in Sugisaki's work over time.
The story is captivating yet confusing at the beginning. It's much easier to get into the whole narrative while watching the anime, but after some time, you can also immerse yourself in the story through reading the manga. The plot is straightforward (I won't delve into specifics) and well-outlined. There are many unexpected twists, but plenty of expected events too.
Furthermore, I would say that D.N.Angel is not only my favorite manga but also an exceptionally good one that should be read by anyone who enjoys mystery and other related topics found in D.N.Angel.
I initially watched the anime and then read the manga. Comparing the two, the manga is undoubtedly much better.
The story is incredibly rich, with a deep and captivating mystery woven throughout.
The art improves with each chapter, evolving into something truly outstanding. The eyes, the clothing, the action scenes, all coupled with the characters' emotional expressions, are simply amazing. Yukiru Sugisaki is one of the greatest artists I've ever seen.
The character development is exceptional, with each personality being uniquely crafted and further enhanced in every chapter.
I thoroughly enjoy the manga because of its mystery, story, and characters, along with the astonishing art.
Overall, it's brilliant from what I've read up to volume 20, stage 3, including the most recent chapters from the monthly Asuka magazine.
