Yuuri Andou, the first sophomore to join the team, often appears detached and indifferent towards victory. However, her outward demeanor hides a surprisingly adept skill in kendo, coupled with a sadistic streak reminiscent of Miyako Miyazaki from Muroe High. Yuuri shares Miyako's tendency to shift into a darker persona, revealing a side that instills fear even among her teammates. Unlike Miyako, Yuuri openly criticizes her peers, especially Akemi Asakawa, when their actions displease her. When displaying her crueler tendencies, she emits an eerie black aura similar to Miyako’s, employing underhanded tactics such as tripping opponents or stepping on their feet. She then denies any foul play with a falsely sweet demeanor, much to the frustration of her teammates who already feel her lack of team spirit.
Besides her competitive nature, Yuuri has a pronounced sweet tooth, which once caused her team to lose valuable time during a practice match against Muroe High by stopping at a café for sugar "recharge." She struggles in the mornings, another trait adding to her quirky character. In episode 15, it is revealed that Yuuri can sleep with her eyes open, a peculiar ability that unsettles Tamaki during a training camp. Additionally, Yuuri is sometimes seen reading books during crucial moments like matches or team assignments, further emphasizing her apparent disinterest in winning.
