Yuuji Nakata is a kind, cheerful, and helpful first-year student who joins the Kendo Club. He was previously part of his junior high school's kendo club and trained at the Kawazoe Dojo. During his junior high years, he achieved a place in the top eight in the prefectural games. In the manga's Q&A section, Tamaki states that Yuuji is stronger than Toyama. His skill level is nearly equal to Tamaki's, and he has managed to defeat Satori Azuma once. Yuuji has used his kendo abilities to scare off some gang members, though he became anxious after they fled. Additionally, he is the only individual aware of Kojirou's true motivation for intensifying his training regimen for the kendo team.
