Kirino Chiba is a second-year high school student and the captain of the kendo club. Full of energy and enthusiasm, she aspires to lead her team to the nationals. Her family runs a deli called "Chiba Deli." Kirino is delighted that Kojirou has started putting more effort into training the kendo team, though she remains unaware of the true reason behind his sudden dedication. As the club captain, she takes pride in her role and exhibits more responsibility than meets the eye—picking up shinai left on the floor by other members, reminding them to clean up after themselves, and so on.
Kirino finds Tamaki particularly endearing, often treating her like a "little sister" alongside Sayako—playing with Tamaki's hair, not paying much attention during her kendo lectures, and encouraging her to fight just for the fun of watching her compete. Despite this playful attitude, Kirino holds great confidence in Tamaki's abilities. Kojirou describes her as the heart of the group. In competitions, Kirino plays the position of Second-in-Command (fukusho).
