Ura Sakaki is a 16-year-old sophomore at Touryou Academy. Ura first encounters Tamaki Kawazoe during a shopping trip. Similar to how Tamaki saved Kirino Chiba and Tojari Ishida from flying balls and a falling vice principal, Ura saves Danjuro Eiga from flying ramen, a falling billboard sign, and a runaway purse snatcher. The Muroe High School Kendo Club believes this meeting was destined and that one day Ura and Tamaki will cross swords.
Ura is an accomplished kendoka. She was the junior high national champion. As a high school freshman, she won fifteen consecutive kendo matches at Gyouryuuki, Kyushu's largest kendo rally, before losing on the third day of the tournament. After that defeat, she stopped attending Touryou Academy’s kendo club meetings.
She left the kendo club due to her obsession with entertainer Junya Takigawa. Ura’s fascination with Junya began when she decided to attend an appearance he was making at a park near her school. He smiled at her, and at that moment, she felt as if they were connected by a string of fate. She interprets the romantic lines he says on TV and sings in songs as being directed towards her. When a character he portrayed on the show Black Duran threw away his sword, she took it as a message to abandon her own. Despite her intense feelings, she has yet to meet him in person.
