Miwa is one of Ichigo's friends and also her classmate. However, she is unaware of the Mew Mews. Similarly, her friend Moe Yanagida is also oblivious to the existence of the Mew Mews. They are often seen together and appear in nearly every episode of the anime.
In episode 23, Keiichiro Akasaka, the baker from Café Mew Mew, helped Miwa pay for a box of tea, which caused her to develop a crush on him. Meanwhile, Moe had a crush on Ryou Shirogane. Following Ichigo's suggestion, both Miwa and Moe made gifts for their respective crushes in an attempt to win their hearts. Despite putting considerable effort into crafting these gifts, they were rejected by the boys, leaving Miwa and Moe feeling dejected.
Later, Kish stole Moe and Miwa's spirits and used them to create two Chimera Lovebirds. Fortunately, Ichigo managed to defeat them. In a twist of fate, Keiichiro and Ryou admitted that they actually appreciated the gifts. Still smitten with the two boys, Moe and Miwa decided to start a fan club dedicated to Ryou and Keiichiro.
