Keiichiro Akasaka is the manager and baker at Cafe Mew Mew, as well as Ryou's partner in the Mew Project. Five years prior to the events of Tokyo Mew Mew, Keiichiro collaborated with Dr. Shirogane, Ryou's father, on the Mew Project in the United States. Following the tragic deaths of Ryou's parents in a lab explosion, Keiichiro accompanied Ryou to Japan to continue their work on the project. Keiichiro holds deep affection for Ryou and often worries when he endangers himself aiding the Mew Mews. Despite his concerns, he respects Ryou's decisions and only asks him to promise to return home where tea will be waiting.
Keiichiro's age isn't specified in the manga or anime versions. In the official guidebook for the 2002 PlayStation game "Tokyo Myu Myu - Tojo Shin Myu Myu! - Minna Issho ni Gohoshi Suru Nyan," he is listed as being twenty-one years old. However, promotional materials for Mew Mew Power state he is seventeen.
The Mew Mews regard Keiichiro as a gentleman due to his charming, tactful, and kind nature. He also displays a playful and flirtatious side, such as offering to kiss Ichigo to transform her from her cat form. Once, Ichigo speculated if Keiichiro might be the Blue Knight after noticing a matching injury, but it turned out to be an accident involving Pudding during practice.
In the manga, Keiichiro doesn't show any romantic interests, but in the fourteenth episode of the anime, it's revealed he had an ex-girlfriend named Rei Nishina, a butterfly researcher. They broke up due to their busy lives, yet he always makes a special cake for her birthday. Rei gets attacked by aliens and has her spirit stolen in an attempt to turn her into a chimera anima. After being saved by the Mew Mews, they part ways.
In the anime series, Hikaru Midorikawa voices Keiichiro. In the English adaptation of Mew Mew Power, his name changes to Wesley J. Coolridge III, voiced by Andrew Rannells.
