Lord Il Palazzo, which means "The Palace" in Italian and is how his subordinates formally address him, leads ACROSS, a covert ideological organization committed to global domination. Believing the world has become tainted, Il Palazzo aims to conquer it to rescue the oblivious populace from their own follies. Indeed, he frequently starts his directives and speeches by declaring, "the world is corrupt!"
A recurring joke throughout the anime is that despite all his plotting, Il Palazzo finds himself with nothing to do when Excel and Hyatt are on missions. He's often depicted engaging in surprisingly mundane hobbies such as learning to play the guitar or setting up domino blocks. Despite these ordinary pursuits, Il Palazzo is anything but an average human, evidenced by his yellow, cat-like eyes and seemingly supernatural abilities showcased in episode 25. However, both the anime and manga make it evident that Lord Il Palazzo suffers from serious psychological issues, most prominently multiple personality disorder.
