Despite being only 17 years old, he often appears older due to his stubble and buzz-cut hairstyle. During his freshman year, Musashi left the team when his father fell seriously ill, forcing him to drop out of school and take over as the construction foreman at Deimon High. Although he longed to return to football, he initially refused to rejoin the Devil Bats. However, after meeting Sena and Monta and witnessing their determination, he agreed to rejoin on the condition that they become a strong team. In the manga, Musashi makes his comeback during the game against Seibu, prompted by his father hitting him for abandoning his team. In the anime, however, he rejoins the team during the match with the Bando Spiders. He has a rivalry with the Spiders' kicker, Sasaki Koutaro, who is known for never missing a kick, according to Hiruma. Musashi possesses an incredibly powerful right leg, which greatly benefits the Devil Bats on kickoffs, often pinning opponents deep in their own territory or forcing them to down the ball in their end zone for a touchback. The "60-yard Magnum" title was a fabrication by Hiruma to make Musashi seem invincible, though Musashi consistently clarifies that it is not true. The kanji in Musashi's last name, Takekura, can also be read as Musashi, hence his nickname. This references Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned samurai famous for his skills with two swords, symbolizing Musashi's role in executing two kicks per successful possession (extra point or field goal and kickoff).
