Seriously, reading works like this makes you realize how lucky we are to be born in 21st century where people have awareness. I mean shunning a person just because they're gay and driving him to commit suicide.

So William was a gay and he was in luv with Elliot,, when the late discovered that he was flustered and couldn't accept that coz as it's knows as an awful sin. Coz of that they grew distant from each other ,, and as know Elliot was the one defending William when being bullied since they grew apart they bullied him even more ( especially after a rumour of him being a gay started to surface btw it's nt Elliot who spread them) so it ended with William suicide.
For the women in the room ,, lilyan's suffering for some type of mental disorder (aka schizophrenia) coz of their family tragedy.
Elliot too suffered a lot of guilt after William death followed by his father dying for grieving him
