Berserk Chapter 9 Discussion

It's the iconic Death-Birth Tree :o Finally seeing Guts' birth in detail was interesting. Too bad that his mothers had to die pretty gruesome deaths because he was a really sweet child.



Damn that Gambino... Guts was already doing everything he could to be a great mercenary for him and that bastard made him a sick freak's sextoy even though there were a lot of ladies willing to do it instead. The kid thought they got something special c'mon ;-;

don't see a reason to hate Gambino. As far as I can tell, it was necessary for him to be hard on Guts the way he was.

Can we get much higher?

Seeing someone whose early life was considered a crime like that is gut (no pun intended) wrenching. It is a shame that it was adapted wholly in the anime adaptations.

I'm amazed they cut this out of the anime. The whole thing with Donavan is something that shaped him to be the character he is now.



I guess they just couldn't get by with showing a kid getting raped, even if it was only vaguely shown. But, yeah, I agree that it is absolutely essential to his characterization.

end for the volume 3rd with the start of Golden Age arc which I've heard is one of the best arc in the series...



I felt really bad for Guts with how he was terrified to sleep in night :(

Good chapter, but so far this series is no where as deep/mature as people make it out to be (not in terms of violence)



So far it's a 7/10 series
