When Mavis tried to stop him, I was thinking "no he is long over due to die", and he went through with it. It is still to early to tell if Makarov is truly gone, when Juvia and Gajeel were thought to be dead, I was okay with them not dying, they shouldn't die, but a character like Makarov is long over due.
That being said, I am going to miss you Makarov, though you never know it could still exist as a spirit, that would be okay I guess.
Now I am tired of waiting, time for Erza and Irene to finally meet and let's find out the nature of this relationship, enough is enough Hiro, this is even worse than Silver in the Tartarus arc.
Next chapter, Broken Bonds, Natsu and Gray they need to chill out, we are in the middle of a war, now is not the time.

Did not see that coming :O what an awesome way to go out, bringing him back after this would destroy what little faith i have left in the series.Now i just wanna see gray and natsu reactions (it would be stupid to keep fighting)
No it wouldn't be stupid. Remember these details
Makarov is NOT the only one who can use Fairy Law. Laxus can as well
No one but Makarov and the First knew of the fatal weakness of Fairy Law
There is no reason for Natsu or Gray to react since they don't know it was Makarov and don't know that having an abundance in targets will kill you if you use Law

(Time for my first forum post) Solid chapter overall. I do think Makarov is dead. That being said, because this is Fairy Tail and whenever someone dies, you wonder "is he/she really dead" especially after Gajeel and Juvia, it does take away the emotional aspect somewhat. If Makarov somehow comes back, i hope it happens at least after 5 chapters, to let the death sink in. But i don't think he's coming back. He fulfilled his role.
Makarov's death (for now) reminds me of a similar death in Rave Master although i won't spoil it.

My reasoning why I believe Makarov isn't dead is not just because he was teased multiple times, but how recent the "death" tease we got from Gajeel and Juvia. There is no way Makarov can be dead so soon after those two. If he truly is dead, then the impact of loss and despair is taken away from us because we became so skeptical about anyone dying.
That right there is the epitome of bad writing. Hiro has become the "Boy Who Cried Wolf". No one can believe you after pulling the same stunt twice.
Either way, whether he is dead or alive, Hiro and us fans loses due to Hiro's bad writing. Like I said before, if he's dead, the impact is not there. If he lives, then it's just another ass pull. Its a lose-lose scenario.
I Actually think he's dead for sure, a lot of fans blamed him for the two fake deaths (Gajeel & Juvia) i dont think he would do another one, so this must be the Death he talked about in this arc, and it's actually necessary for the growth of fairy members.
If he is dead then it's just poor writing because Hiro has made me and many others skeptical. When someone dies, I wanna feel despair, not wonder if he's dead or alive. That's not how you kill characters off by putting doubts in fan's minds.
This could even happen to Laxus, a more prominent character over Makarov and I'd still have my doubts. That's not a good thing at all.
