Either he is really dead or he becomes immortal because he didn't use the move properly or some BS like that. Just like how Mavis became immortal.

People falling for Mashima's trap. Makarov isn't coming back. This is the death he was talking about in the interview

(Time for my first forum post) Solid chapter overall. I do think Makarov is dead. That being said, because this is Fairy Tail and whenever someone dies, you wonder "is he/she really dead" especially after Gajeel and Juvia, it does take away the emotional aspect somewhat. If Makarov somehow comes back, i hope it happens at least after 5 chapters, to let the death sink in. But i don't think he's coming back. He fulfilled his role.

Makarov's death (for now) reminds me of a similar death in Rave Master although i won't spoil it.

Whose?

None that I can remmeber of having high similarities.......maybe Gale Glory's?

It's not Gale. The death i'm talking about happens much, much later. In fact, i think it happens either in the last arc or right before it. I would say who dies but i don't want to spoil it and there's no spoiler tag thing. Unless there is and i'm not aware of it.

After so many times that Makarov's death was teased,I think this is easily the best time for him to stay dead.Let's hope Mashima won't screw up this.

I think he's dead for good this time. RIP. Much feels.

My poor bb ;___; Now go fight your mommy for some great scenes.

Was his speech a metaphorical handover of Guild Masters title to Erza?

I think she is a right person to lead the guild, I thought about Laxus too, but he is kinda like Gildarts - always walks his own way and Erza is more Guild Master-ish type of person than Laxus.

Had to take a break from FT, but this chapter lit me up

Wow...........For the first time in over 50 chapter...........I'm giving this a 5/5

This entire death was very beautifully done, was well build up throughout the chapter... I usually never get sad for a character in FT, always knew they're gonna come back thro BS (like Gajeel and Juvia), but this time I think he's dead for real....

RIP Makarov, you'll be missed.............one of my top 10 characters of the series

But I swear..............if he's back, ........well for now I'll be positive and sink in the feels and emotions

One of the best and most badass deaths I've seen in shounen, GG Mashima

Is Mashima actually serious about Makarov's death or is he going to troll the readers once again through bringing him back in a couple  of chapters with a stupid explanation. Still, it is a great chapter and it kinda seemed like the death of Whitebeard from One Piece. Where is Laxus when his grandfather is dying. 5/5.

Makarov is dead for certain, he won't be coming back I'm sure. Mashima's already done 2 fake out's with Gajeel and Juvia, and Makarov has already been saved from death a number of times already, one in this arc alone.

Mashima did say another death was coming, and this is it. For real this time.

RIP Makarov.

Dissapointing, a fitting but unceremonious end for Makarov, and will be worse if Mashima choose to revive him somehow in the future, my big complain is that the moment wasnt build up and didnt work as an unexpected moment either, and Laxus wasnt even there to react, Makarov last words didnt even mention him. Mashima san, if you want to make a war arc, read the Marineford arc in One Piece, and if you want to impact readers with a death of a beloved character without see it coming, read the Marineford arc in One piece.

Very skeptical of his death since recently the manga has been constantly been trolling deaths everywhere.

That's Mashima's trap and you guys all fell for it.

Even if he is dead all emotional impact is gone.

I doubt Makarov is dead. It's too soon for another "death". Especially with how this arc is going, I don't expect anyone from FT to die.

My reasoning why I believe Makarov isn't dead is not just because he was teased multiple times, but how recent the "death" tease we got from Gajeel and Juvia. There is no way Makarov can be dead so soon after those two. If he truly is dead, then the impact of loss and despair is taken away from us because we became so skeptical about anyone dying.

That right there is the epitome of bad writing. Hiro has become the "Boy Who Cried Wolf".  No one can believe you after pulling the same stunt twice.

Either way,  whether he is dead or alive, Hiro and us fans loses due to Hiro's bad writing. Like I said before, if he's dead, the impact is not there. If he lives, then it's just another ass pull. Its a lose-lose scenario.
