Well anyways, at least DeS power-up receives a consequence.



The concept of "forbidden magic" being consequential was introduced during the Tenru Island Arc. Azuma died to his own magic and (forgot his name) Capricorn, or  human takeover guy, died due to the consequences of taking over a spirit.

All the "7 kins of purgatory" were explained to utilize magic close to the source which was claimed to be darkness, aka the source that empowers Zeref.



As for Gray specifically there was alot of foreshadowing. It started with him gaining his tattoos when he tanked Mard Geer´s wtf attack, later during the Avatar Arc it was implied that his "disease" was eating at him, which he tried to battle through training, which didn´t work.

Wether or not Hiro implied that he left Juvia to protect her from himself is debateable, but during the arc there were panels dedicated to him noticing hat his tatoos grew larger and him getting worried over it.



During the war arc he had also another discussion with Laxus, where Gray mentioned Laxus cancer and Laxus Gray´s worsening condition. It wasn´t ever specified what exactly was happening, but worried looks at his arm and growing black demonic tattos could be cosidered foreshadowing.

Juvia and Gray killing eachother....yeah that ain't happening.

Let's see how they'll get out of this mess~

Well I want Juvia to die for the sake of the manga but I will be sad though if it happens cause Juvia's my second favorite female character in this manga next to Mira



Mashima won't kill her off. He already screwed up twice. First in Gajeel, second in Mira. No one is gonna believe him now. And with a title like Gray and Juvia, you expect Juvia to die? More like nakama power at the best here.

You know, for a chapter called "Invel vs Gray" they didn't fight much. Unless you call 2 attacks from Gray and 1 from Invel is a fight.



For the first time in a while, I'm very interested on how this fight goes and the outcome. Gray is far stronger than Juvia so most likely Julia will be sacrificed, considering that if she is able to find an opening, she'll let Gray kill her.



At the same time, this is Fairy Tail and I highly doubt anyone would die. It doesn't help that just recently we were made to believe that Gajeel is dead, only to have him return in 3-4 chapters.



I'll say this again like I did with Gajeel. I wanna see a corpse/funeral and I'll be convinced that person is dead. If Gray somehow does kill Juvia, well, I'm sure she'll be back from some ass pull.



And that's how the writing for this arc has been for me so far. It made me cynical and that's a shame for such a great series up to this point.

True, he could just use mind control on Gray to be safe, as he seems to be doing, something Gray should not be able to get out of. To be even safer, he could use mind control on Natsu as well, if possible. But I don't see why the Spriggans would not work together in these actions. Obviously, if Gray suddenly nakama's through the mind control, it would help Invel to have another Spriggan ready to back him up so that Gray has essentially 0 chance of winning still.



Natsu already burnt off his ice, so it's natural for Invel to assume that his magic won't work on Natsu anymore. It won't be weird for Invel to formulate another plan in case he needs it.

That was a very good chapter.Gray managed to hit Invel with devil slaying magic and Invel used ice lock on Juvia and him.Before this,Brandish took away Natsu,Happy and Lucy.Now,someone has to die so the other will be freed.Juvia thinks about committing suicide instead of fighting.Nah,I don't think anyone is gonna die. xD
