That´s a fine way to put it. I´m not disagreeing on an objective level. I´ve recently heard of a certain rule for writing. It demands that you only can use convenience to put your characters into trouble but not get them out of trouble.

Given the history of Shounen though. If you´d consistently applied this rule to all of them, every single one would fail including the highly regarded ones like Death Note, FMA or HxH.



The individual itself has to decide where he puts the line and claims no more bullshit, because objectively all of them are dropouts and this goes even beyond Shounen and Anime/Manga. Look at your favorite Movies/Books and ask yourself if this rule gets applied. If they don´t they objectively failed, but can still hold value due to other aspects of the work being so much in your taste that you enjoy them subjectively.

Those idiots from twitter sure look even more stupid with how they much they shat on Hiro for "killing off Mira"

Decent chapter.

What's more annoying about this manga, rather than just ass pulls and disappointing villains, is how uninteresting all the characters and their relationships are. The dialogue in the chapter is supposed to be sad or whatever but I really couldn't give a shit about the sister scene.



That aside though, it's really ridiculous how many asspulls Hiro has done here. It would have helped a small bit if Hiro had simply made the lethal wound kill Mirajane, although it wouldn't really make August anywhere near the hype he was given still, especially when Natsu just negated his attack from before.



This manga would be massively better if he just stopped with the constant fanservice and focused on actually making interesting fights. Which should be hard if August is really 1000x stronger than fairy tail guild members. Since Mavis is weirdly alive, I would assume she is the main candidate for actually offering an interesting fight, if she were to just fight Acnologia or Zeref or August or whatever, with 'Infinite Mana'.



I kind of expected satellite square spam to be used when Mavis explicitly mentioned she could use it repeatedly. I would hope Hiro has some actual plans to make the 'super unbeatable top tier spriggans' have interesting abilities, although probably not. He'll just do what he did with the 'Time God' and use some random laser attack instead of actually interesting powers.

Brandish is an ASSPULL. First of all, she should be dead as a traitor for saving TWO competent mages in ishgar side.



Secondly, WTF? How can you repair the damaged organ? The heart is destroyed, that's it. You have 80% of your heart missing, what can you do? Make what smaller? Total shit.



Brandish needs to die fast, can't take this bitch anymore.

lmao I love how we're meeting a new family member every chapter. There were some super sexy panels of Mira with cum all over her body that pretty much made this chapter for me. Brandish is still being amazing, she saved Mira despite what Mest made her do. August really is incredible, I can't see him being beaten by anyone but Gildarts unless maybe Jelal does something, I'm not too sure how powerful he's supposed to be at the moment. Irene is really cold hearted so her reunion with Erza will probably end up being the opposite to Sorano and Yukino's. Speaking of Sorano and Yukino, I didn't really care much for that scene, it was nice to see them meet up but the dialogue was super cheesy. All though I suppose that isn't necessarily a bad thing.



So now let's wait for one of Juvia's relatives to show up.

Is Mashima competing on how many asspull survivals he can pull in an arc? I mean we had Gajeel just a chapter or two ago, Laxus, Natsu, etc  and now this shit with Mira. How are we supposed to take ANYTHING seriously? How do you even MAKE A WOUND SMALLER?!? Even if you pierced the heart with microscopic needle that would still cause death.



Totally lost count of Spriggans - they all have been fodder and sort of blend into each other in terms of being unimportant.



The ass-pull family member is outright filler material in terms of quality. It feels as if Mashima's desperate to make the reader feel threatened by Spriggans(which he totally failed at so far). First we had all tartaros demon powers stuffed into one as Mashima tried to make us feel threatened. Then we had Eileen's asspull magic nonsense, which also failed to impress. Now its Nasu's family member - I mean he has to be strong and powerful, amirite?! FT is totally going to loose now omg omg amirite? LOL.

Exactly.  I don't mind that no one from FT's died, but when you keep having these fakeouts it only cheapens the effect and if you do actually kill someone, no one's gonna buy it (see Gajeel).

One last thing I wanted to mention, before people get hyped because Rakheid has the name Dragneel.

Look at his face, he looks alot like Natsu.Personally, outside of something random like a Zeref clone or a homunculi I´m saying he´s adopted. It´s more than likely that it turns out that he´s Zerefs son.



His desgin reminds me alot of Deep Snow from Ravemaster and given Hiros history with the recycling of story elements he´ll probably have his role too.
