The only thing interesting going on right now is Zeref and Acnologia. Can't wait to see them again. I would love it if acnologia suddenly appears out of nowhere and one shots someone from the guild like he did with serena but I am sure that won't happen. Guild's plot armor is too strong.
Except this was actually nice planned out. Random powerup? Can't argue with that since that happens in shounens a lot, and after time skips the character come with new moves we didn't previously see.
What I mean to say is that the story is very predictable and that makes it boring to me. I know no matter what nobody is going to lose unless they fight zeref or acnologia. Also none of the current generation members (natsu, erza, laxus etc) are going to die. The powerup may have been well executed but what is the point if you already know the outcome?
Unlike most people I find battles extremely boring in FT for this reason. I am more interested in the world of Fairy Tail and the stories of certain characters like Zeref, Acnologia and that death god who was mentioned in the manga. I find the adventure/exploration aspect of the manga interesting and not the fights.
Well that's predictable for most shounen manga, few moments when you get surprised. But it's all about how the defeat the enemy... or at least that's my opinion. I agree with you tho, the fights in Fairy Tail are not one of the best (ofc few exceptions were some are really nicely done), but yea I'm intetrested in this for characters and their adventure, just like you.

Where's the asspull exactly?
The fact that Wahl had to use nullifying magic to remove Freed´s runes was reasonable as we´ve seen other cases where mages used nullifing magic. Giving a tactical mage with "high capabilities " nullifying magic is comrehensible.
But the fact that it conveniently removed Laxus disease felt underwhelming.
It raises several questions that probably have to be answered through assumptions.
1. Laxus knew that his disease coud get healed by using cleansing magic.
2. Wasn´t anyonene in his vicinity capable of using nullifying magic of the required magnitude?
3. Didn´t he want to scare his friends and didnt tell them?
4. If no one in his environment was capable of healing him, why didn´t he search farther away,
We lack details kudos if we get them next chapter, I would highly appreciate some exposition.
TLDR; It gives Laxus credibility for using his wits to beat his enemie but opens up several cans of worms.
Asspull is a term that gets thrown around randomly in the Anime/manga community. Overall there was no foreshadowing for a new Laxus ability but a timeskip has occured so it´s actually only natural that he learned new skills too.
I don´t remember people complaining about Grays blood ice countering Ultears time magic.
My personal beef with this chapter is that it was a oneshot.
It would have been satisfiying to see Laxus reveal the new ability have Wahl dodge/tank some hits and than continue and end the fight next chapter.
An issue Fairy Tail fights have since I don´t care to remember.

anyway, I'm pretty confused about the power levels in this arc in general. It's not like fairytail has ever had a clear definition of what it means to be strong in this series but like first they say the Spriggan 12 have equal power to God Serena and that he was the strongest mage in Ishgar. Okay but they are plowing through members of the spriggan 12 like every 2 chapters so that's pretty fucking dissapointing. Like, idek...

We've seen that mages who have some type of element can be hurt by that said element, Natsu was hurt by Zancrow's flames, even tho he should be 'immune' to fire, and other examples. Even you said 'could almost analyze everything'.
That's a different beast altogether. Zancrow's flames were the antithesis to Natsu's, GSM is essentially the poison to DSM.
Never explained or even implied. "Antithesis?" Right now you are the one pulling stuff out of his ass.
Zancrow explained that Godslayer magic> Dragonslayer magic, because Gods are the superior entities. Natsu asked if he was taught by a god which Zancrow replied with.
"Master Hades is a god!" To which Natsu responded via Bullsit power up in using up all his magic power(initially this meant death) to "create a new vessel", wich allowed him to eat god flames.No explanation whatsoever Natsu surpassed Zancrow in a blink of an eye because he can "create a new vessel" never revisited or reused again.
Still nowhere a word of antithesis only constant boasting about how superior god magic is and whatnot.I remember this so good because it was literally the first fight I called bullshit on.

I liked how Laxus got cured; it was interesting to see his opponent cure him. But where exactly did that red lightning come from and what's so special about it? Ah well, I don't think I can care too much about seemingly random power-ups in shounen so... it was a good fight.
What's gonna happen next? That title doesn't give me too many hints. Unless 'time' refers to Dimaria...
It comes from Yuri and yeah, hoping its about Marie too :D
