Just got to read the chapter. Am impressed with the build up for this storyline, but I am confused.
Zeref's curse radiates black and turned Natsu's scarf black. It looked very similar to god slaying magic in the anime. And Wendy was not able to heal Natsu after his fight with Zancrow until she purified the scarf.
Yet the Lumen histoire is light. And the trapped Mavis projects light.
How are they inverses of each other if they are the same thing?
Maybe because the because the origin was a bit different. That's the easy answer because Mavis using law and Zeref's story in chapter 436 did not look the same.
But...
I am wondering if Mavis did something to change her curse which made Zeref realize the value of life (go live on tenrou island for so many years)?
You have some good points.
First of all I do not think that "gods" in Fairy Tail are something good to begin with, the more the story continues. One possible hint towards that would be that Zancrow got taught "God slayer" magic from Hades/Precht, who he called a god.
I´ve got the impression that Hiro tries to give the message of "humas" are capable of forging their own destiny, while the "gods" function as the bringers of inevitable destiny.
Basicly another pierce the heavens and punch the sky storyline similar to that of Ravemaster or Gurren Lagann.If destinry tries to dictate our future our bonds can overcome it!
I´m inclined to think that the evil that possesed Rogue during his fight with Gajeel (and future Rogue) is the same that´s responsible for Zeref and Mavis curses.Or that it´s at least part of a group of villains that are in the Shadows and
are described as gods.
Since besides the Megido ripoff we saw during the Avatar arc nothing aside from Master Hades that we´ve seen ever refered to itself/was refered to as a god.
Minervas magic was refered to as god of whatever, Orgas´s godslaying origin wasn´t confirmed, and Chelias was told to be selftaught through some ancient book.
Since God slaying in general is shown as black, demons demonic aura and anything similar in Fairy Tail is associated with Black including whatever possesed Zeref and Rogue, my assumption is that the source is the same, which will be the real FT endgame while Zeref will be purified and find peace to be together with Mavis in death.

If Yuri is indeed God Serena I'm going to flip some tables.
As Darklight stated, there is no way Warrod would not recognize him. Sure, you could argue that we never saw his reaction because they didn't face each other so far. But his reaction when being told that God Serena now is a Spriggan would have been more intense, shocked.
Secondly: Makarov. As far as we got to know Yuri, he deeply cares for his friends and family. Do you really think that he would abandon his three year old child, disappearing without a clue? If he didn't, Makarov should know about him. If he did, it would be OOC.
Mavis would also know by now I guess.
Jumping to conclusions just because the shadow (we didn't see Serena in detail) looks similar to Yuri is way too fast. Especially since he seems to be aging (look at the tiny differences in his appearance).
So far, there is no reason for him to be alive. Adding him and creating kind of a love triangle with Yuri - Mavis - Zeref would be horrible storytelling. He just doesn't fit in.
If Serena is going to be a new character, please remind me to remind you that you were wrong ('cause you seem to like this competition "Who's going to be right" and to remind people that they were wrong like you are the all-knowing little devil, sitting on Mashima's shoulder the whole time and it was just so easy to predict... seriously...).

Says the guy who was Hell bound on the Gray Uchiha outcome, because obviously Gray wasn´t a spy and was the villain of the avatar arc.
Remember how that came to be true?
Remember when Natsu fought Gray cause he had become a villain, remember how you predicted that correct.
I remember how stupid that whole arc became because Hiro buckled to the stupid gray fandumbs who couldn't accept their precious toy going evil cause of a power he has no right to control so easily so quickly.
The same way he buckled to the morons who wanted Lisanna back.

so basically the one that can live along side with Zeref is Mavis only?

On another note, is it just me, or do they resemble Lucy and Natsu, there? Like, look at the faces. Truthfully, it's the first time Zeref even closely resembled Natsu, in my opinion. xD

Just as what Zeref had said at the manga, what kind of lives she chose o take at her own discretion. (Still not sure.)
Her tactics as a Fairy Tactician was one thing about her curse since she took note of the lives costed at their battle.
Let's just say Zeref randomly kills people by the use of Death magic directly while Mavis unknowingly uses her tactics to kill people (mostly on the bad guys.) But then again, it was an act of taking a life so it will be the same.
My point is, should Mavis become the strategist for Ishgar's forces, many lives were about to lose on her command whether be it good or not. It will be a battle between Mavis andd Zeref by leading two countries into a great war. Larger than any Earthland countries could ever have.
Though my opinion contradicts by the fact of Mavis's first use of her tactics back at GMG since it did not kill any people. Well maybe because the game forbid killing.
Now let's go back to the battle. This is where END/Natsu plot comes into place.
Since Natsu doesn't want anyone to die. He might intervene and release whatever on his arm. Zeref notices and later derides him about giving him despair and shit. Then give a little background story about the two of them then later Natsu comes to a decision to whether to kill his brother or not..
I wouldn't want to explain any further... I might be just placing the events that were about to happen in the future.
Final arc and battle would be Natsu and company vs Acnologia.
(I know some of this may be wrong so care to correc me if I'm wrong xD)

Totally aggred on this one. Serena being Yuri would make for unnecessary deviations in order to explain why. I'd much prefer a guy with another reasoning other than vengeance.
I got two more reasons to add. 1-Serena receded only recently. If he really hates Mavis/Fiore/Fairy tail from the bottom of his heart why only now?
2-The eyelashes. All 4 Dreyars we know so far have the characteristic of big eyelashes. Serena dowsn't have them. The new haircut? Sure, maybe Yuri had a change of styhle but Hiro wouldn't abandond the hereditary characteristic he gave to this family.
