The story is pretty much as previously described, yet moderately entertaining so I've powered through.
The character design however just keeps getting worse. In chapter 76 he reaches a new cultivation stage and uses some magic to transform his clothes, because why not.
Now he looks like some gay tween popstar. Whoever thought that mixing in modern clothing into an old Chinese martial arts setting was a good idea, should be shot.
But then again there's practically no world building.
It's just a dumb, straightforward cultivation battle shounen. Serves as an okay time waster if you're fine with all those things.
Side note: I have never played one of these "otome" games, but based on all the comics featuring them they must a) be very popular and b) be very similar to one another. How does a genre tolerate multiple games all featuring a magical western style urban fantasy setting, headlined by a poor (blonde) heroine beset by a cruel (red headed) villainess as she attempts to romance the prince of the kingdom (who is the villainess's fiancé), the prime minister's son, the [general's son / captain of the guard / important noble], and the villainess's [brother / relative / close associate]? Almost all of the comics in this sub-genre take such a setting, which I can only presume is mirrored by the games for this to be a relatable enough setting from which to launch a parody/deconstruction/played-straight-role-reversal.
Also sad to see Yojou not end up with Kotera, but understandable. He grew and became his own person. I just liked him WAY more than the other male lead. (Ping-pong guy.)
