Slowking is a bipedal Pokémon with a Shellder attached to its head. It has a primarily pink body, featuring a pale yellow muzzle and scaled belly. Each foot and hand possess a single clawed digit, while the hands also include a thumb without claws. Around its neck is a spiny ruff that alternates between red and white stripes. The Shellder on its head exhibits a spiral shape, adorned with two horns near its base. A red gem resides in the center of the Shellder, whose eyes are visible at the back.
The venom released by Shellder's bite into Slowpoke's brain triggers a chemical chain-reaction, unlocking superior intelligence and extraordinary power. Every time Slowking yawns, more venom is injected, increasing its intelligence further. However, if the Shellder detaches from its head, Slowking forgets everything it learned and reverts to being a Slowpoke. Slowking's intelligence can match that of a human, constantly seeking new knowledge. Its inspiration and intuition are highly developed, enabling Slowking to stay calm and plan effectively, solving any situation. In games, Slowking's speech is unintelligible; yet, in the anime, it can understand and speak the human language.
The Complete Pokémon Pocket Guide notes that Slowking has an easygoing personality, never experiencing stress. Rarely found in the wild, it inhabits areas near water, consuming seaweed and coconut milk. In Alola, it's known as "the sage of the sea," occasionally challenging Oranguru by the beach.
Forms
Slowking has a regional form: Galarian Slowking. In Galar, Shellder's bite causes a unique chemical reaction due to Galarica spices in Galarian Slowpoke's diet, resulting in a distinctive appearance for Galarian Slowking. Its tail tip and upper body are purple, draped with a long dark cloak. Shellder appears larger, rougher, darker gray, covering Slowking's eyes and nostrils. Purple spots dot Shellder, with a large central spot surrounding a green gem and two black eyes. The spikes on Shellder are blunter, with two purple horn-like tubes secreting poison. Shellder’s teeth have grown broader and flatter.
As Galarian Slowking evolves, Shellder's intelligence surges, granting control over Slowking and rivaling Psychic-type Pokémon powers. Galarian Slowking chants mysterious spells during battles or communication. It creates strange potions using internal toxins while chanting these incantations. Their meanings remain unclear.
Evolution
Slowking evolves from Slowpoke, one of its final forms alongside Slowbro. Galarian Slowking evolves from Galarian Slowpoke, forming another final form along with Galarian Slowbro.
