Crystal is the seventh main character in the manga series Pocket Monsters Special. As a child, she suffered a severe fall that broke her arms, leading her to learn how to kick Poké Balls with her feet. Despite having fully recovered from her injuries, Crystal has maintained the habit of kicking her Poké Balls rather than throwing them. She has captured every non-legendary Pokémon for Professor Oak, more than any other character in Pocket Monsters Special.

Later on, Crystal expands her collection to include Pokémon from Hoenn and begins working full-time as one of Professor Oak's assistants. Her extensive Pokémon collection becomes a valuable asset for Emerald when he ventures into the Battle Frontier.

According to Professor Oak, Crystal's unique talent lies in Pokémon catching, earning her the title of "the catcher" (捕える者). Her expertise in this area sets her apart from the other characters in the series.
