Uxie is a small, gray, fairy-like Pokémon with two gray tails, each adorned with a red gem. Its face is partially yellow, and it has another red gem embedded in its forehead. Uxie's head somewhat resembles a helmet or a human brain. It always keeps its eyes closed because seeing its eyes can erase one's memories.
Alongside Mesprit and Azelf, Uxie is part of the Legendary trio known as the lake guardians, first discovered in the Sinnoh region. Uxie is both feared and respected for its ability to wipe out the memories of evil individuals. Its spirit can leave its body without causing death and return at will. Uxie is credited with creating all knowledge within the Pokémon universe. When Uxie first appeared, humans gained the knowledge necessary to solve problems and enhance their quality of life.
In the game "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon," Uxie demonstrates the ability to create illusions. It also showcases teleportation abilities in episodes "The Needs of the Three! (DP151)" and "The Battle Finale of Legend! (DP152)," moving itself and others through space. Despite being very shy, Uxie will fiercely defend itself and its friends if threatened. Historically, it has been called the "Being of Knowledge" due to its role in enabling human adaptation and learning.
Together with the other lake guardians, Uxie is essential for crafting a Red Chain, either by using gems from its body or its claw. They can also destroy a Red Chain and have the power to calm down Dialga or Palkia when these deities are enraged, though not both simultaneously. In "Pokémon Legends: Arceus," Uxie shows the ability to communicate with humans via telepathy.
