Bonsly is a round, brown Pokémon with its head resembling a club (♣). It has a rim encircling the middle of its body. Three yellow spots adorn its face, two surrounding its small black dot eyes. Its legs are short and feet are toeless. Bonsly features a hole on its rear akin to a flowerpot's drainage hole. Though often mistaken for a Grass-type Pokémon, its body composition is more similar to stone.
Bonsly excels at mimicry, frequently being mistaken for an actual bonsai tree. However, it stands out in dry environments devoid of greenery. As its green spheres dehydrate, their luster becomes duller. This Pokémon can remain stationary for extended periods. It also tends to cry, not due to sadness or attention-seeking, but because of excess moisture in its body. While crying, it expels both sweat and tears from its eyes; Bonsly's sweat tastes slightly salty, while its tears have a slight bitterness. Excessive dampness can be fatal for Bonsly. This behavior also serves to lower enemies' guards. Bonsly prefers arid, rocky areas, though it isn't uncommon to spot one in a garden. According to Brock's Bonsly, young ones need bottle-feeding but can eat solid food upon maturing. People often think Bonsly cries while sleeping and assume something is wrong, but it's merely adjusting its fluid levels by expelling water.
