Mr. Backlot is the proprietor of the Pokémon Mansion and Trophy Garden, and he is rumored to own Amity Square as well. His residence features a back garden where players have the opportunity to catch wild Pokémon.

It seems that Mr. Backlot has a habit of telling tall tales; he frequently claims that certain Pokémon appear in his garden, even though they do not naturally inhabit his region. His loyal butler aids in maintaining this charade by importing these Pokémon into the garden, thus enabling players to capture rare species that are otherwise unavailable in Sinnoh. This can be particularly advantageous for completing the National Pokédex.
