Togepi is a petite, light-yellow Pokémon with an egg-shaped body. Upon hatching from its Egg, Togepi's body remains enclosed within its shell. The shell has a white base and features rounded, mostly unfilled shapes with thick borders that are either red or blue, covering all sides. Protruding from the shell, Togepi has short, rounded cone-like arms and round feet with two toes each. It possesses thin, black, oval eyes accompanied by thin, black arcs on their outer edges. On its head, Togepi has five round-tipped, conical spikes resembling a crown. Additionally, it has semi-oval, brown pads on the soles of its feet.
In the anime, Togepi can retreat into its shell, typically to sleep. It has the ability to absorb positive energy from others, storing this happiness in its shell, and later releasing it to those in need. Togepi can emit poison from the spikes on its head. Known for its joyful nature, it shares its happiness with those who care for it. Due to its disposition, Togepi is considered a symbol of good luck, particularly if a Trainer can get a sleeping Togepi to stand. Its innocent smile is said to soothe the soul. The anime also shows that Togepi can act maliciously at times, causing chaos and bad luck to its enemies. Although rare in the wild, Togepi is most commonly found in forests.
