The priestess of Genbu.
Takiko in the Real World
Takiko was born on September 22, 1906, in Tokyo, Japan. Raised primarily by her mother due to her father's frequent travels and work commitments, she was a popular and excellent student in school, even serving as class president. She enjoyed meticulous tasks and was highly skilled with a naginata, a spear-like weapon. Takiko was generally cheerful and tolerant but harbored strong dislikes for octopus, thunder, and most significantly, her neglectful father, especially during her mother Yoshie's terminal illness from tuberculosis.
When Yoshie's condition worsened, they moved to Morioka, her mother's hometown. In Morioka, Takiko struggled to fit in at school and faced resentment from classmates who saw her as an outsider. Despite these challenges, she maintained her academic performance and tried to stay positive. During this time, she encountered Takao Oosugi, a man she had loved since childhood but who was both older and married. This further complicated her social standing among peers.
Upon her father Einosuke's return after a two-year absence, Yoshie passed away. In a moment of anger, Takiko attempted to destroy the book her father had been writing instead of caring for Yoshie. Unbeknownst to her, this act transported her to the world of the Four Gods, where she became the Genbu no Miko.
Takiko is physically and mentally resilient, intelligent, witty, and fiercely independent. She doesn't conform to societal norms and has no interest in marriage, particularly not to men who expect traditional behavior. However, her strength is juxtaposed by emotional loneliness; isolated from her father, mourning her mother, and without romantic prospects, she feels disconnected.
Takiko as the Priestess of Genbu
In the Universe of the Four Gods, Takiko initially felt scared and confused but demonstrated immense courage. She agreed to become the Genbu no Miko despite the dangers, driven by a desire to be needed and the hope of reviving her mother. Her motivation was weak at first, but over time, she grew more confident and enthusiastic about her role.
Her determination helped her overcome numerous challenges while gathering the warriors. Each Seishi had significant emotional barriers, but Takiko's empathy and strength enabled her to connect with them. Uruki, initially impressed by her bravery, eventually became her emotional support. Tomite, after being taken hostage and beaten senseless by Takiko, joined her cause, influenced by his mother's approval. Hatsui found safety and admiration in Takiko, becoming devoted to her. Namame, though emotionally distant, protected Takiko fiercely. Hikitsu, though reserved, supported her after resolving past conflicts. Inami, initially skeptical, was won over by Takiko's compassion. Even Urumiya, despite initial animosity, showed signs of loyalty.
Through perseverance and genuine care, Takiko united the Genbu Seishi, overcoming their differences and creating a formidable team. Her journey transformed her from a lonely girl into a respected leader, ready to fulfill her destiny as the Priestess of Genbu.
