Scyther is a bipedal, insect-like Pokémon. Its body is mainly green with a thin, cream-colored section separating its head, thorax, and abdomen. Female Scyther have larger abdomens compared to males. It has a reptilian head featuring two narrow, triangular eyes and three blunt horns protruding from its forehead. Its arms culminate in large, white scythe-like appendages used for both hunting and combat. Two pairs of cream-colored wings sprout from its back, allowing it to fly, although it seldom does so. Scyther's thighs are adorned with large, upward-pointing spikes, while its feet are tall, rounded, and conical, almost reaching its thighs, each ending in three small, white claws on the front.
As an adept hunter, Scyther uses its scythes to tear into prey. Its green coloration helps it blend seamlessly into grasslands and forests, making encounters with humans rare. Known for its ninja-like agility, Scyther moves so swiftly that it becomes hard to track, enhancing the effectiveness of its scythes. It sharpens its blades through battles and by slicing through tough objects like trees; it can fell a massive tree with a single strike but cannot cut through Tarountula’s elastic threads. The anime reveals that wild Scyther form swarms led by a single leader chosen through combat. If a challenger defeats the current leader, the defeated one is exiled from the swarm. Additionally, Scyther becomes aggressive when exposed to the color red.

Scyther evolves into Scizor.
In the Hisui region, it evolves into Kleavor.
