Sonia is a member of Griffith's reformed Band of the Hawk and holds an unwavering admiration for him. Her parents were killed when the Kushans invaded her village, and she was taken prisoner until Griffith, along with his apostles, rescued her and other captives during an assault on the invading Kushan forces.
Despite living in a world filled with surreal and often horrific events, Sonia remains unusually calm and shows no fear for her life. Instead, she feels amazed and cheerful about her role within the Hawks. She possesses the power of clairvoyance, which intensifies when she is near Griffith, whom she has a childish infatuation with. This leads to jealousy towards Charlotte, who is betrothed to Griffith.
Sonia uses her abilities to sense emotions and see future visions to assist the new Band of the Hawk in their campaigns. She formed a friendship with Schierke when they met in Vritanis and foresees that they will meet again, referring to Schierke as an owl and herself as a kite playing in a moonlit forest. She also developed a close relationship with the distant Irvine.
Sonia is a clear counterpart to Casca: both were saved by Griffith and have had romantic feelings for him.
