Guts is the protagonist of the story. He is a tall, muscular man known for his massive sword, the Dragon Slayer, and his prosthetic left forearm that features a magnetic grip and conceals a cannon. Guts is a tragic hero, born with the potential to challenge Causality, yet seemingly unable to significantly alter it.
Note: His name has often been translated by some English scanlation groups as "Gatts," "Gutts," or "Gattsu." However, the official translation provided to Dark Horse Comics by Kentaro Miura himself is "Guts."
