Serpico is Farnese's companion and, unbeknownst to her, her paternal half-brother. During his time with the Holy See, he served as Herald for the Holy Iron Chain Knights.
When provoked, Serpico defies his mild demeanor and exhibits the cunning and swiftness of a fox, particularly with his rapier skills and sharp observations.
Despite enduring childhood abuse from Farnese and being forced to burn his own mother at the stake, Serpico holds deep affection for his half-sister. He has been her servant ever since she found him beaten on a snowy street over a decade ago.
Serpico's relationship with Guts has always been strained due to the inherent dangers that follow Guts and his companions. After a duel with Guts in the underground pillars of Vritannis, Guts spared his life. This encounter rekindled their bond, and Serpico has since learned to trust Guts to protect Farnese when he cannot.
To aid in battle alongside Guts, Serpico uses two items blessed by the wind spirit Sylph: a rapier capable of generating razor-sharp gusts of wind, and a cloak that creates a swirling vortex around its wearer, deflecting projectiles, assisting in jumps, and slowing falls from great heights.
