Shirona is a League master and the Champion of the Sinnoh region in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Besides the player character choosing a female avatar, she stands as the first known female Pokémon League champion in the video game series. Her Japanese name signifies "Chosen by the gods."
She sports blonde hair and wears black attire. Additionally, she adorns two hair clips that bear a resemblance to Lucario's Aura Sensors, but with a yellow stripe instead of being entirely black. Shirona hails from Celestic Town in the Sinnoh region. It appears she underwent training under Professor Rowan during her youth.
In the Anime
Cynthia was initially mentioned in Lucian's flashback in "An Elite Meet and Greet," alongside other members of the Sinnoh Elite Four. She made her debut appearance in "Top-Down Training!" Her Japanese voice actress is Tomo Sakurai, while Emily Jenness voices her in English. Internationally, Samira Fernandes portrays her in the Brazilian Portuguese dub.
She was first seen battling against Lucian on television using her Garchomp. Subsequently, she arrived at Amity Square to study ancient tablets. Paul then challenged her to a battle, where she triumphed over four of his Pokémon solely with her Garchomp.
Cynthia reappeared in episodes DP096 and DP097, attempting to thwart Team Galactic from stealing the Lustrous Orb. In DP100, she was observed defeating Aaron.
In Pokémon (2019), it is revealed that Cynthia ranks as the second strongest trainer in the Pokémon World Championships. During the Masters Eight Tournament, featuring the top eight trainers globally, she defeated Iris, Unova's Champion, in the first round. Intending to retire post-tournament, she faced Ash in the second round and experienced her first on-screen defeat, which motivated her to continue battling.
In the Games
Cynthia assists the main character against Team Galactic at a pivotal point in the game. Post defeating Crasher Wake and acquiring the Fen Badge, she can be found on Route 214, providing the player with the SecretPotion to navigate past Psyduck on Route 210. She exhibits a keen interest in mythology and history, dedicating time to explore various sites associated with Legendary Pokémon in the Sinnoh region.
Later, she reappears as the League Champion.
In the Manga
She first appeared in Eterna City shortly after the trio's starters evolved, offering them assistance before their Gym challenge. Later, she reappeared in Pastoria City following Platina's Gym challenge to aid some injured Psyduck.

"One look at you tells me many things about you. Together, you and your Pokémon overcame all the challenges you faced, however difficult. It means that you've triumphed over any personal weaknesses, too. The power you learned... I can feel it emanating from you. That's enough talking. Let's get on with why you're here. I, Cynthia, accept your challenge as the Pokémon League Champion! There won't be any letup from me!"
