Shaymin is a petite, white, hedgehog-like Pokémon. In its Land Forme, it boasts green, grass-like fur on its back and a pink flower with two leaves on each side of its head, resembling the Gracidea flower. Additional flowers sprout on its back when it feels secure but retract swiftly upon sensing danger. Its legs are short, and its underside is plump. Shaymin holds the distinction of being the smallest Mythical Pokémon known and one of the shortest Grass-type Pokémon.
This Pokémon has the remarkable ability to instantly cleanse any polluted area, transforming it into a flourishing field of flowers. It ingests contaminated air, purifies it within its body, decomposes it into water and light, then expels the purified substance in an explosive burst. The strength of this power depends on the type of pollution absorbed. Shaymin can also communicate telepathically and sense gratitude from others.
Each season, Shaymin congregates with others in a flower field before migrating collectively—a phenomenon referred to as Flower Carrying, as new flower fields emerge wherever they land. This Pokémon is drawn to places filled with gratitude. Land Forme Shaymin is shy and easily frightened. If wet, it shakes itself dry and often scratches itself with its hind leg. Living in flower fields, it camouflages by curling up, making it hard to spot. It enjoys sweet foods.
Forms
Shaymin can shift between two forms: Land Forme and Sky Forme. In Sky Forme, it adopts a slender, canine-like appearance. The fur on its back transforms into a mohawk, and it sports a red flower petal on the left side of its neck, resembling a scarf or cape. Its ears flatten and resemble wings, it has a small tuft of fur on its neck, and a stubby tail.
The blooming of Gracidea flowers grants Shaymin the power of flight, enabling it to transform into its Sky Forme. It reverts to Land Forme at night or if frozen. Sky Forme Shaymin possesses a courageous, energetic, and playful personality, spreading feelings of gratitude as it takes flight.
