Porygon2 is a rounded, magenta, artificial Pokémon that resembles a drinking bird. It features a flat bill and large, round eyes. Its legs are simple ovoid growths on its sides, and its tail widens towards the middle. The bill, legs, tail, and underside of Porygon2 are blue.

The evolution of Porygon into Porygon2 was due to an upgrade using the most advanced technology available at the time. This upgrade aimed to enable it to work in space for planetary development purposes, but its inability to fly limits this capability. Porygon2 possesses artificial intelligence, allowing it to learn new behaviors independently, even information it doesn't necessarily need. It can communicate in a unique language only other Porygon2 can understand, leading it to sometimes perform actions or use abilities not originally programmed. It is commonly found in computers or labs where it works with people. While it can survive in the vacuum of space, it struggles to move effectively in zero gravity. In ancient Hisui, people were perplexed by Porygon2 and its evolutionary relatives because they arrived through space-time distortions and showcased technology far beyond what was available then.

Porygon2 evolves from Porygon and further evolves into Porygon-Z.
