Omastar is a cephalopod mollusk Pokémon resembling an ammonite or nautilus. Its body, colored sky blue, features several tentacles; those at the front are shorter and thicker compared to the ones at the back. On its back rests a pale yellow, helix-spiraled shell. Sharp spikes line the midsection of this shell, extending from the front to about halfway down its back. The rim of the shell has two circular indentations where Omastar's eyes can be seen. These eyes have yellow sclerae and vertically slit pupils. It possesses an oval mouth equipped with a four-sectioned, fang-like beak.
It is theorized that Omastar's extinction was due to the increasing weight of its shell, which hindered its mobility, including its ability to hunt. Omastar navigated the seas in pursuit of prey, such as prehistoric Shellder. It only attacks when potential prey comes close to its tentacles. Using its tentacles, Omastar captures its prey before delivering a lethal bite with its powerful beak. Its fangs are strong enough to crush rocks. After breaking the shell, it would consume the contents inside. Omastar itself was preyed upon by Carracosta. It is considered a distant ancestor of Octillery.
Evolution
