Octillery is a red, cephalopod-like Pokémon featuring large, round eyes and a turret-shaped mouth. Its rock-hard head is adorned with yellow bumps, while each of its eight tentacles has yellow suction cups. Female Octillery have smaller suction cups and bumps. These tentacles allow it to manipulate objects, and the suction cups provide a firm grip, making it difficult for anything to blow it away.
Octillery is a laid-back Pokémon that enjoys attention from its Trainer. Though it becomes more docile when domesticated, wild Octillery can be quite stubborn. It naturally seeks out rocky crevices or pots, and if sleepy, it might steal another Octillery's nest. When threatened, it releases ink from its mouth to obscure vision before making an escape, protecting itself and any offspring. This ink also dulls predators' sense of smell and can immobilize prey before the suction cups secure it. Interestingly, this ink can even be used as a cooking ingredient. Additionally, Octillery sometimes uses its rock-hard head to attack foes.
Commonly found in oceans and caves, people long doubted that Octillery evolved from Remoraid due to their vastly different appearances. It is considered a distant relative of Omastar. In New Pokémon Snap, there is footage showing an Octillery about to be attacked by a Seviper.
