Staraptor is a grayish-brown, avian Pokémon resembling a large bird of prey. It possesses small, red eyes and a slender, yellow beak with a black tip. A circular white patch adorns its forehead, which is slightly smaller in females. Prominent white markings cover its throat and chest area, divided by a black ruff encircling the shoulders. A black crest tipped with red extends over its head, nearly reaching the tip of its beak. Staraptor meticulously cares for the shape of this comb, using it to appear larger and intimidate adversaries. Its wings are expansive, with five tail feathers tipped in black, and its yellow feet have sharp, black talons. The strength in its wing and leg muscles enables it to fly effortlessly while carrying other Pokémon, regardless of their size.
After evolving, Staraptor leaves its flock to live independently, having grown strong enough to fend for itself. It can exhibit high levels of aggression, relentlessly attacking even larger opponents despite any illness or injury.
