Mewtwo is a man-made Pokémon, characterized as bipedal and humanoid with certain feline traits. Its body is predominantly gray, featuring a long purple tail and a large purple underbelly. It has two short, blunt horns atop its head, purple eyes, and a tube extending from the back of its skull to the top of its spine, bypassing its neck. The chest and shoulders are well-defined, resembling armor, and each hand and foot has three digits with spherical tips. The tail starts thick at the base but thins out before ending in a small bulb.
Documents from Kanto's Pokémon Mansion reveal that after discovering the Mythical Pokémon Mew and obtaining some of its DNA, Mr. Fuji used it to create Mewtwo within his mansion. This modified clone of Mew was designed to be the most powerful Pokémon ever. Horrific genetic experiments conducted there made Mewtwo extremely powerful yet vicious. Eventually, it escaped, destroying the mansion in the process. Known for being one of the strongest Pokémon, Mewtwo possesses a savage heart, lacking compassion and instilling fear through its cold, glowing eyes. To conserve energy, it remains still until unleashing its full power in battle. Though rarely seen in the wild, it is believed to reside in a dark cave.
In "Mewtwo Strikes Back (M01)", Mewtwo demonstrated abilities such as levitation, telepathy, mind control, memory erasure, teleportation, and storm creation. However, it also showed caring and protective traits. Another Mewtwo in "Genesect and the Legend Awakened (M16)" was less aggressive but equally averse to contact. In "POKÉMON Detective Pikachu", Mewtwo can transfer a human soul into a Pokémon’s body if the Pokémon is in a crazed state. Mewtwo has a rivalry with Mew and can breathe in outer space. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, it was revealed that human cells, specifically from Team Rocket scientist Blaine, were used to complete Mewtwo's creation, linking him to Blaine, who can track Mewtwo at the cost of his life.
Shadow Mewtwo
A unique variant called Shadow Mewtwo shares similarities with standard Mewtwo but has dark gray skin, a dark gray tail with a yellowish-orange tip, and a shard of Shadow Synergy Stone protruding from its shoulder. Anne was almost possessed by a Shadow Synergy Stone but was saved by Mewtwo, which merged with the stone instead. Under its influence, Shadow Mewtwo traveled around Ferrum, draining Gaia Power from other Synergy Stones, increasing its power continuously.
Forms
Mewtwo has two Mega Evolution forms: Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Shadow Mewtwo can also Mega Evolve into Mega Shadow Mewtwo X using Synergy Burst.
Mega Mewtwo X is larger and bulkier, with longer, pointed horns curving upward. It has two tubes behind its neck, light blue eyes, and large purple growths over its shoulders. Its torso is smooth and small compared to its bulky limbs, with a Y-shaped line connecting the collar and underbelly. Its forearms and thighs have raised ridges, and its digits are longer and thinner. Its tail is shorter, stiffer, and curled at the tip. Its muscles are augmented with psychic power, enabling it to grip with one ton of force and sprint 100 meters in two seconds.
Mega Shadow Mewtwo X resembles its normal form but retains dark gray coloring due to the Shadow Synergy Stone's influence. The infection spreads to its tail, shoulder growths, arm ridges, and ear tips. The Y-shaped line on its body glows yellowish-orange.
Mega Mewtwo Y is smaller and lighter, losing its long tail, underbelly, and neck tube. Instead, it grows a long purple appendage from the back of its head, similar to its previous tail. It has two backward-curving spikes on its head and a half-ring structure connecting them. Its eyes are red and slightly larger, and its digits are purple and more bulbous. Despite its size, it has immense mental power, capable of smashing buildings with a mere thought.
