Carbink is a gray, rock-like Pokémon with a conical body. Embedded within its form are light blue crystals of various shapes and sizes. Surrounding its small head is a white, fluffy collar. This soft mane is used by Carbink to polish the gems of other Carbink. Its eyes are bright blue, it has a light blue crystal on top of its head, and flat diamond-shaped ears. Due to its diminutive size, it shares the title of shortest Rock-type Pokémon with Minior and Dwebble.

Created from high temperatures and pressures underground, Carbink is occasionally unearthed during cave excavations. After its formation, it can remain in a state of sleep for millions of years. Sableye prey upon Carbink, and Gabite enjoys capturing it. For defense, Carbink shoots high-energy beams from the gem atop its head. Rarely, Carbink undergoes a strange mutation, transforming into Diancie. It is believed that a group of Carbink resides deep underground in a jeweled kingdom, ruled by their queen.

Carbink servants are a set of Pokémon serving Diancie, the princess of the Diamond Domain. Four of these servants have names: "Merrick," "Bort," "Allotrope," and "Dace."
