Maxie appeared in two episodes of the Pokémon anime.
He featured in "Gaining Groudon" and "The Scuffle of Legends." Maxie aimed to expand the land of Hoenn, believing it would bring peace. However, by the end of the latter episode, Maxie recognized his mistakes and altered his views, now advocating for preserving Hoenn as it is.
Manga
Maxie lacks a permanent base, frequently moving between caves across Hoenn, leading Team Magma like a nomadic gang, enhancing their elusiveness. This allowed Team Magma to steal the Scanner from the Abandoned Ship and both the Red and Blue Orbs. Nevertheless, Amber's Volbeat pilfered the latter for Archie.
Following Rayquaza’s intervention to stop the clash between Groudon and Kyogre, Maxie and Archie went mad, targeting everyone who thwarted their plans: the Elite Four, Gym Leaders, the Regis, and even their own members. It was Maxie's Houndoom that scorched Norman with its flames.
Archie later revealed that Maxie perished due to the Red Orb consuming his body, turning him to dust.
