Lycanroc is a canine Pokémon that resembles a wolf and comes in three forms: Midday Form, Midnight Form, and Dusk Form. The first two forms are influenced by Solgaleo and Lunala when exposed to solar or lunar energy. The third form is said to be shaped by the setting sun.
Humans use Lycanroc as guards to protect their fields from Deerling.
Forms
Lycanroc has three distinct forms: Midday Form, Midnight Form, and Dusk Form.
Midday Form
In its Midday Form, Lycanroc looks like a light brown, quadrupedal wolf. It features a white underbelly extending around its muzzle and eyes, forming a mask-like marking. Its pointed ears have dark brown tips and pink insides, with large blue eyes and a triangular, dark brown nose. Four sharp fangs line its mouth—two on the upper jaw and two on the lower. Large tufts of brown fur extend from each side of its head, while a bushy white mane covers its neck. Four dark brown rocks poke out of its mane, resembling a stylized sun. These rocks are razor-sharp. This form's legs have white lower portions, with each foot having three dark brown claws. It also sports a long, fluffy white tail.
The Midday Form has a calm, collected, and cautious personality. To avoid unnecessary fights, it prefers solitude over pack life. However, it becomes fiercely loyal to Trainers who accept it during its unruly stage. In battle, it darts past opponents, attacking them with the rocks in its mane. These swift movements confuse many foes, cornering them. It always targets the weak spots using its fangs. Broken fragments of its stone mane are considered good luck.
Midnight Form
In its Midnight Form, Lycanroc appears as a slouched, bipedal wolf or werewolf. It has short red fur with white on its lower legs and a white streak covering its face, underbelly, and tail. It has pointed ears with black tips, three large tufts of fur on each side of its face, a triangular black nose, and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Its glowing pinkish-red eyes lack distinctive colors. A mane of fur covers its back and shoulders, sweeping forward over its head to form a crescent moon shape. Two small rocks resembling claws poke out of the mane below the shoulders, with a larger stone projecting from the front. Each paw has three black claws, and it has a stubby tail covered in long fur.
The Midnight Form thrives on battling, becoming more excited as its opponent grows stronger. This excitement causes its eyes to glow. Known for being reckless and vicious, it closes in on its opponent, encouraging attack before countering with a powerful blow. Its headbutts can destroy giant boulders. Trainers who can harness its power earn its trust, but it despises those it disagrees with or forces it to fight.
Dusk Form
In its Dusk Form, Lycanroc combines traits of both previous forms. Its body resembles the Midday Form with white color except for orange-gold fur. It retains the three brown claws on all four feet. The white fluffy mane looks like a sun with part of a crescent moon. Four rocks surround its neck like a sun, with a bigger stone coming from the mane over its head. Its face resembles the Midday Form but is orange-gold with bright green eyes, which change to glowing red when angry or attacking.
The Dusk Form shares traits from the other two forms. It has the stance, calm demeanor, and loyalty of the Midday Form but also the fighting spirit of the Midnight Form, including glowing red eyes during attacks. Unlike its counterparts, Dusk Form Lycanroc never barks. Upon entering battle, it relentlessly drives opponents into a corner. Since it only evolves at sunset, the Dusk Form is the rarest and most challenging to train due to its temperamental nature.
Evolution
Lycanroc evolves from Rockruff. Depending on various factors, Rockruff can evolve into Midday Form, Midnight Form, or Dusk Form Lycanroc.
