Latias is a Pokémon featuring a birdlike body that resembles an aircraft. Its elongated neck extends from its compact torso. It lacks legs, typically floating instead. The posterior portion of its body is predominantly red while the upper half is white, adorned with wing-like structures akin to those of a jet plane positioned high on its rear and fins near its tail. A blue triangle adorns the center of its chest, complemented by a red mask partially covering its face. Fins resembling ears sit atop its head, and its eyes are yellow. It possesses short, three-fingered arms with a red sheath on the outer side of the lower arms. Latias is exclusively female, with Latios serving as its male counterpart.
When threatened, Latias fluffs its feathers and emits loud cries. Its glass-like, downy feathers can wrap around its body and refract light, enabling it to become invisible or change its appearance. This Pokémon is highly intelligent, capable of comprehending human speech. It can communicate through telepathy. In the fifth movie, Latias demonstrated the "Sight Sharing" ability, allowing it and those around it to see exactly what Latios was seeing. It usually avoids contact with humans or other Pokémon, disappearing when danger approaches. It forms herds with multiple members and is commonly found near water. Latias enjoys Latias Treats made by Snacksworth, who once encountered it. It can be summoned using the Eon Flute.
Forms
Latias has the capability to Mega Evolve into Mega Latias. As Mega Latias, the red sections of its body turn purple. Horns emerge from the sides of its head, extending along its jawline. It loses the wings on its back, replaced by larger wings attached to its lower arms, which are typically held horizontally. Triangle shapes now mark the forward points of its wings rather than its chest.
