Blastoise is a large, bipedal turtle Pokémon. Its body is primarily blue and mostly concealed by its tough, brown shell. The shell features a cream-colored underside and a white ridge encircling the arms, dividing the upper and lower halves. Blastoise has two powerful water cannons atop its shell over its shoulders, which can extend or retract. Its head includes triangular ears that are black inside, small brown eyes, and a cream-colored lower jaw. The arms are thick, with three claws on each hand, while its feet have three claws in front and one at the back. A stubby tail protrudes from the bottom of its shell.
The powerful cannons on this Pokémon's back can produce water blasts capable of piercing steel and concrete, used for high-speed charges. Blastoise deliberately increases its weight to withstand these blasts and crush opponents. In Generation II, Skull Bash was its signature move. The anime has depicted Blastoise leading groups of Squirtle and Wartortle. It prefers freshwater ponds and lakes as habitats.
Forms
Blastoise has two forms: Mega Blastoise and Gigantamax Blastoise. When Mega Evolved, Blastoise develops two smaller shells over its arms, each with a water cannon. The original two back cannons are replaced by a single, larger central cannon that retracts into its shell. This cannon extends forward over Mega Blastoise's head and reportedly has a blast range of over 6 miles (10 kilometers). Small ridges develop over its now-red eyes and extend to its ears, which angle slightly backward. There is also a small point on its chin.
As Gigantamax Blastoise, it becomes significantly larger. Its eyes turn white with bright blue sclerae. Its blue arms, head, and legs change to light blue, and the underside of its shell turns dark red. The shell transforms into a battleship-like formation with 31 cannons of varying sizes. Twin cannons emerge from hexagon and rectangle-shaped holes within the shell, and a main cannon protrudes from the center. Several white triangular spots appear on its tail and legs, with three red clouds surrounding the main cannon.
Gigantamax Blastoise can adapt to any situation using various cannon combinations. While not very precise, it overwhelms opponents by launching dynamic, powerful torrents from its cannons. According to legend, its main cannon is so powerful it can blast through mountains. Additionally, Gigantamax Blastoise can align the 12 cannons around its main cannon individually to attack in any direction.
Evolution
Blastoise evolves from Wartortle and is the final form of Squirtle.
