Jindai, known as Brandon, remains an enigmatic figure throughout much of the Battle Frontier saga. Unlike his fellow Frontier Brains, his silhouette is not individually showcased during the opening sequence and is only visible in a group shot. Trainers can only discover the location of the Battle Pyramid after obtaining the other six Symbols, hinting that Brandon might hold a higher rank among the Frontier Brains, although in video games and manga, this distinction belongs to Anabel. Ash learns that the Pyramid is situated near Pewter City after earning his sixth Frontier Symbol in "Second Time's the Charm!"
Ash's first encounter with Brandon happened in "Battling the Enemy Within!" where he was under the influence of an ancient Pyramid king, battling Brandon's Regirock with his Sceptile. Despite Sceptile's defeat, Ash eventually regained control, and the Pyramid relocated near the Indigo Plateau.
In their second clash in "Overjoyed!" Ash deployed Torkoal against Brandon's Registeel, but like Sceptile, it also succumbed to Brandon's Legendary Pokémon.
Meeting Brandon in a forest in "Gathering the Gang of Four," Ash faced him again in "Pace - The Final Frontier!" for a 4 vs. 4 battle. Although Brandon’s Dusclops defeated Ash’s Charizard initially, it was subsequently beaten by Ash’s Bulbasaur. Next, Squirtle triumphed over Ninjask with a Hydro Pump, but then fell to Solrock, which ended up drawing with Bulbasaur. In the final round, Ash used Pikachu against Brandon’s Regice, achieving a rare victory over a Legendary Pokémon, making Pikachu only the second to do so after Charizard.
Brandon reappeared in "A Pyramiding Rage!" aiming to study the Snowpoint Temple. He encountered Ash and friends and was challenged by Paul to a full battle, easily winning due to Paul’s emotional instability. Brandon suggested they would duel again when Paul was more prepared.
In "Pillars of Friendship," Brandon unsuccessfully attempted to thwart Pokémon Hunter J from disrupting Regigigas at the Snowpoint Temple, leading to its rampage. It calmed down after Brandon saved it from being petrified by J. Subsequently, Brandon decided to remain at the temple, not just to rebuild it but also to let Regirock, Regice, and Registeel serve as new guardians for Regigigas.
